The Leesa Original is a 10-inch all-foam mattress with a medium feel according to Leesa. Its four-layer build and long trial may appeal if you want foam contouring, but claims about cooling, comfort, and motion isolation should be weighed as manufacturer- or vendor-displayed evidence—not as independently verified results. The most consequential purchase details are the mattress’s foam construction, the return window and fees, and the warranty terms that depend on when and where you buy.
What mattress does this review cover?
This is the Leesa Original, the brand’s all-foam model—not the Leesa Original Hybrid, which has a spring core. Leesa’s product page describes the Original as 10 inches thick and built from four layers. This review relies on the manufacturer’s specifications and policy pages; the mattress’s comfort, cooling, durability, and test results have not been independently verified here.
How is the Leesa Original built?
Leesa lists the layers from top to bottom as:
- Cover: A breathable knit made of 87% polyester and 13% viscose. An optional Cooling Quilt Top is listed as 73% polyester, 25% polyethylene, and 2% spandex.
- GreenFlex BioFoam: 2 inches of 3-pound foam. Leesa says it uses natural polyols from non-food crops and is certified under the USDA BioPreferred program; these are the manufacturer’s material and environmental descriptions.
- Memory foam: 2 inches of 3-pound foam.
- Support base: 6 inches of support foam.
The optional Cooling Quilt Top is available for the Original and Original Hybrid, according to Leesa’s materials FAQ. It is a different cover option, not evidence that the mattress will feel cool to every sleeper.

Is the Leesa Original firm or soft?
Leesa labels the mattress medium. The company says 76% of its customers reported a medium feel in its customer surveys. The product page excerpt does not state when the survey was conducted, how many customers responded, or how the survey was run, so treat the figure as a company-reported result rather than an independent firmness measurement or a prediction of your own experience.

The foam layers suggest a product designed to contour more than a spring-core mattress, but that construction alone cannot establish how firm it will feel to a particular person. Body weight, sleeping position, and personal preference can affect perceived firmness. Leesa also displays a quotation attributed to The New York Times Wirecutter calling the Original a “Goldilocks foam mattress—not too firm, not too sinky.” That is a vendor-displayed quotation, not an independent assessment checked for this review.
Does the Leesa Original sleep hot or isolate motion?
Leesa says the foam helps keep sleepers cool and relieve pressure. Those are company claims, not guaranteed outcomes. If you tend to sleep hot, consider the all-foam construction and cover choice cautiously: the available product information does not establish that the mattress sleeps cool for all users.

Leesa also displays a motion-transfer statement attributed to Naplab, describing the mattress as having “extremely low motion transfer” and ranking it among the lowest the lab has tested. The full methodology and test context have not been independently reviewed here, so treat this as a vendor-displayed, lab-attributed finding rather than a verified performance guarantee.
What sizes and weights are available?
Leesa lists six sizes. All are 10 inches high, and the company says handmade dimensions may vary by up to 2 inches on any side.

How long is the Leesa trial, and what does a return cost?
Leesa’s support page, updated October 5, 2026, describes a 365-night mattress trial and recommends waiting at least 30 nights before deciding. Return requests can be initiated from night 31 through night 365. The limit is the first two mattress purchases per household and shipping/billing address. For returns in Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada, the page says $100 is deducted from the refund for pickup and transport. Check the current policy and your eligibility before ordering, because terms can change.
What does the Leesa warranty cover?
For mattresses purchased after February 1, 2025, Leesa describes a limited lifetime warranty for the original purchaser in the U.S. (excluding U.S. territories) or Canada, if bought from Leesa or an authorized retailer. The warranty is not transferable. Purchases before that date are subject to the terms in effect when purchased.

These are the policy’s stated terms, subject to its exclusions and documentation requirements. Leesa says removing the mattress cover voids a warranty claim. Read the full warranty before buying so you understand what qualifies as a defect and what evidence is required.

It may suit shoppers specifically looking for an all-foam mattress with a medium label, a choice of standard or quilted cooling cover, and an extended trial. The manufacturer’s comfort survey and its displayed Naplab-attributed motion-transfer statement are useful context, but neither establishes how the mattress will perform for every sleeper. Shoppers who prioritize a spring feel or want a more direct foam-versus-spring comparison should also evaluate the Original Hybrid; the information available here confirms its spring core but does not establish a full performance comparison.
