When a hero upgrade is blocked in Sea of Conquest, note the exact item or currency the upgrade screen requires, then use the game’s own source prompt and verify the reward before spending stamina, attempts, or currency. Different materials can have different acquisition routes, and current public sources do not confirm a reliable route for every item. If supplies are scarce, focus upgrades on heroes that matter to your active formation rather than spreading resources across the roster.
1. Identify exactly what the upgrade needs
Open the hero’s upgrade panel and check the name of the missing item or currency. “Hero materials” is not one interchangeable resource: the route depends on the specific item shown. Record the amount required as well as what you currently have so you can check whether a listed reward would actually close the gap.

2. Follow the in-game source prompt and verify the reward
- Tap the item’s source or “Get More” prompt, if one is shown. Check which activity, shop, or other destination the game opens.
- Read the destination’s reward preview. Confirm that it lists the exact material you need, then check eligibility requirements and any visible cost or attempt limit.
- Compare available routes before committing. If the item appears in more than one place, compare the confirmed amount, stamina or currency cost, daily or event limits, progression requirements, and whether the activity also advances another goal. There is no substantiated universal ranking of farming routes or yields.
The official Sea of Conquest website describes the game and its progression systems but does not provide a hero-material acquisition guide. A third-party guide dated 13 July 2026 lists possible sources for several material types, but those item-specific routes have not been corroborated by authoritative documentation. Treat the current client’s reward display—not an unverified farming list—as the confirmation for what you can earn.

Before using a small stock of materials, consider what the upgrade changes and how often the hero contributes to your current lineup. A version-dated independent hero guide discusses hero choices in terms of role, damage type, star level, and availability. It was updated 28 September 2026 and checked against version 1.1.790 (September 2026); it is a secondary reference, not official confirmation.

- Compare the upgrade’s effect with the remaining materials needed for that hero’s next useful improvement.
- Avoid making small upgrades across many heroes simply because each has one available; that can leave your most-used heroes short of the resources needed for a more meaningful upgrade.
4. Check live events rather than assuming a bonus
Event availability and rewards change. Check the current event page and its in-game reward preview before saving attempts or delaying an upgrade. The official event listing shows dated event windows, including listings from September and October 2026, but does not establish that a particular event awards hero upgrade materials. Confirm the exact item in the live reward display before planning around an event.
5. If the source is unclear
If the item has no source prompt, or the destination does not clearly show the reward, do not spend limited attempts or currency based on a guessed route. Check the game’s current help or community channel, or a version-specific in-game guide, and confirm the item name and reward in the client before proceeding.
You do not need to assume that spending real money is required to solve a shortage. The available documentation does not establish a purchase as necessary or verify a particular paid shortcut.
