A “No signal” message does not prove the mini PC is broken. First check the monitor’s power and selected input, then connect it directly to a supported output and test with a known-working cable and another display. Whether you see a startup logo or BIOS screen helps distinguish a Windows display problem from a startup or hardware problem.

Start by identifying what the screen does

Before changing settings or opening the computer, note what happens when you press the power button. Does the power light or fan turn on? Does the monitor show “No signal,” or does it light up but remain black? Do you see the manufacturer’s logo or a BIOS screen before the display goes blank?

Also consider what changed just before the problem began: a new monitor or cable, a Windows or BIOS update, a memory or storage upgrade, a reset, or newly connected peripherals. These clues help choose the next check; a black screen can have several different causes.

Check the monitor, cable and connection first

  1. Turn on the monitor and select its input. Use the monitor’s controls to choose the input that matches the mini PC connection, such as HDMI or DisplayPort. Use USB-C or Thunderbolt for video only if the exact mini PC supports display output through that port.
  2. Reconnect the cable at both ends. Turn the mini PC off, disconnect and reconnect the display cable, and check that it is seated firmly.
  3. Connect directly to the mini PC. Remove any dock, hub, dongle or adapter while troubleshooting. ASUS’s NUC guidance specifically says to connect HDMI or DisplayPort directly, without dongles or adapters: ASUS NUC display troubleshooting. Intel also notes that adapters can cause display problems in multi-display setups: Intel NUC multiple-display guidance.
  4. Try a cable that already works. If possible, verify it with another device and display before using it here. A different cable is a diagnostic test, not a guaranteed fix.
  5. Try another supported output and display. If the mini PC has another video output listed in its manual, test it. Then try a working monitor or TV. For now, use one display only.

Do not assume a port supports video just because it has a familiar connector. Check the exact mini PC’s manual for supported outputs and connection requirements before buying an adapter or cable.

Use the startup screen to choose the next checks

What you observe What it suggests Next step
The monitor says “No signal,” and no logo or BIOS screen appears The display path may not be receiving a signal, or the mini PC may not be completing startup. “No signal” alone does not identify which component is at fault. Finish the direct-connection, cable, supported-port and alternate-display checks. If there is still no startup image, consult the exact model’s startup and hardware guidance.
A manufacturer logo or BIOS screen appears, then Windows becomes black The display path works at least during startup, so the problem may be related to Windows’ display state or graphics drivers. Try the Windows display reset shortcut below. If the issue remains, follow the manufacturer’s instructions for graphics-driver or operating-system troubleshooting.
A single display works, but a multi-display setup does not The issue may involve a particular display, cable, adapter, port or multi-display configuration. Keep one display connected while diagnosing. Then check each supported connection individually and follow model-specific BIOS, graphics-driver and display-firmware guidance.

If Windows goes black after startup

On Windows, press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. ASUS lists this shortcut as a possible way to reset display-related settings in some black-screen scenarios. If it does not help, use the exact product’s support instructions for graphics-driver and Windows troubleshooting; menu paths and recovery options can vary by Windows version and device.

If no startup image appears

Once you have ruled out the external display path, check the manufacturer’s instructions for your exact model. Startup indicators, memory compatibility and BIOS recovery procedures differ among mini PCs. Avoid treating a blank screen as proof that the graphics driver is the cause if the computer never displays a logo or BIOS screen.

Consider recent upgrades, resets and peripherals

If the display failed after a memory or storage change, a reset or a BIOS update, start with the external checks above and remove unnecessary peripherals. ASUS notes that memory training can cause a temporary blank display on applicable systems after certain hardware changes. Its guidance also includes returning recent hardware expansion to the factory configuration and, in some cases, a CMOS reset after disconnecting power. These steps are model-specific: follow your manual rather than assuming your mini PC has the same reset hole, procedure or upgrade access.

Do not flash firmware, reseat memory or clear CMOS as universal first steps. Those actions carry more risk than checking the input and cable, and the wrong procedure can complicate recovery. Use official instructions for the exact model.

Read indicator lights only with the right model guidance

Power-light patterns are not universal diagnostic codes. For example, Intel’s guidance for certain listed NUC families says a repeated three-blink power-button pattern calls for checking that a RAM module is installed and testing the module in each slot or another module. That instruction applies to those NUC systems, not to every mini PC. Follow the model-specific indicator chart before interpreting a light pattern or changing memory.

Intel’s no-boot troubleshooting wizard is scoped to do-it-yourself systems with Intel boxed desktop processors; it directs owners of OEM systems to the computer manufacturer. A mini PC bought as a complete system is generally best handled using its own manufacturer’s support material: Intel Processor no-boot troubleshooting wizard.

When to contact the manufacturer

Contact the mini PC maker if the monitor input, direct connection, known-working cable, supported alternate output and another display have not restored an image. Provide the exact model, what the power indicator does, whether a logo or BIOS screen appears, and any recent hardware or software changes. Use the manufacturer’s official support destination for that product line; for example, Beelink’s Support Center serves Beelink products. ASUS likewise advises contacting support when its display checks do not resolve the issue.
