Change your ASOS password and every other account where you used the same or a similar password. Prioritize the email account used for password resets, turn on multi-factor authentication (MFA) where available, and check your payment activity. Reusing a password creates risk across accounts; it does not by itself prove that any account has been accessed.
1. Change the reused password on every account
Start with ASOS, then update each other account where you used that password or a similar one. The Federal Trade Commission advises changing a suspected stolen password everywhere it was reused. Give every account its own new password, unrelated to the old one.
If you can sign in to ASOS, open your account settings and choose Change password. Enter your current password and then a new one. ASOS’s help page reviewed for this guidance says the new password must be 10–100 characters and differ from your last password. See ASOS password-change and reset guidance.

2. Secure the email account used for password resets
Your email account can be used to reset passwords for ASOS and other services, so secure it as a priority. If you suspect someone accessed it, change its password to a unique one and check its settings for unfamiliar forwarding rules or filters. Attackers may use a forwarding rule to receive copies of messages, including password-reset emails. The UK National Cyber Security Centre explains this risk in its hacked-account guidance.
#1 Best Overall
- Requires 3 "AAA" batteries (included)
- Unit auto-locks for 30 minutes after 5 consecutive incorrect PINs
3. If you cannot sign in to ASOS
- Go directly to the ASOS website and open the sign-in page.
- Select Forgotten password? and enter the email address registered to your account.
- Use the reset link ASOS sends to that email address. If it does not arrive, check spam or junk.
ASOS says three incorrect email-and-password attempts trigger a 30-minute account lock. Avoid links in unexpected password-reset messages; navigate to ASOS yourself and use its official sign-in or Customer Care route.
4. Turn on MFA where it is offered
Enable MFA on important accounts, especially email, financial, social, and shopping accounts, if each service offers it. MFA adds a verification step, which can help protect an account if someone has the password. CISA recommends using MFA on these types of accounts. The ASOS sources reviewed here do not establish whether ASOS offers MFA, so check its current account settings rather than assuming it is available. CISA guidance on strong passwords and MFA.

5. Check payments and report anything unfamiliar
Review recent bank and payment-account activity for transactions you do not recognize. Contact your bank or payment provider about an unrecognized charge. For a suspected unauthorized ASOS transaction, contact ASOS through its Help pages and provide the transaction date, time, amount and currency, and the last four digits of the card. Do not send your full card number or screenshots of your bank account through email or live chat. ASOS Customer Care.
6. Make password reuse less likely
A password manager can generate and remember a different password for each account. Before choosing one, consider whether it works across your devices, how it stores and backs up passwords, how you can recover access, and whether MFA can protect the password vault. CISA discusses these considerations in its password-manager guidance.
