Treat the password as compromised. Stop using the fake page, secure the email account linked to PlayStation Network (PSN), then change your PSN password or sign-in method through official PlayStation Account Management. Turn on 2-step verification (2SV), save the backup codes, and check transactions, subscriptions, and payment methods. If you are locked out or see changes you did not make, start account recovery and contact PlayStation Support immediately.
Do these things first
Speed matters because a phishing site may capture your password as soon as you submit it. Do not return to the page to test it, request a refund, or enter another code. Use a device you trust and type the official PlayStation site yourself or open it from a saved, known-good bookmark.
- Close the fake Store and stop communicating with it. Do not enter your email address again, payment information, recovery codes, 2SV codes, or identity documents. Do not download software it offers or call a phone number shown on the page.
- Change the password on the email account linked to PSN. The email account can receive password-reset links and security notices, so it is a recovery key for your PlayStation account. Sign in to your email provider through its normal app or website, review recent sign-ins, remove unfamiliar sessions, and enable that provider’s own multifactor protection if available.
- Change your PSN credential through Account Management. In the official PlayStation Account Management site, open Security. PlayStation lists the sign-in ID, passkey, password, mobile number, and 2-step verification there. Replace the exposed password with a new one, or set up a passkey if that option is offered for your account and device.
- Use a password that is unique to PSN. Do not modify the old password by adding a number or punctuation. A password manager can generate and store a different long password for every service.
- Enable 2SV and save the backup codes. PlayStation supports SMS and an authenticator app. Record the backup codes somewhere offline or in your password manager; they are needed if you lose access to your phone or authenticator.
- Inspect account activity. Check PlayStation Store transaction history, subscriptions, account security settings, sign-in ID, online ID, mobile number, and registered payment methods. Capture details of anything unfamiliar before contacting Support.
- Contact PlayStation Support for suspicious changes or charges. Contact Support promptly if a purchase is not yours, a payment method was added, or you cannot change the sign-in method.
Secure the email account before recovering PSN
Changing only the PSN password may not be enough. Someone who has access to the linked mailbox can request another reset and take the account back. Change the email password first, or do it immediately alongside the PSN change if you are already signed in to a trusted session.
Check for signs of email takeover
- Review recent sign-in activity and logged-in devices. Sign out sessions you do not recognize.
- Check forwarding rules, filters, recovery addresses, and phone numbers for additions you did not make.
- Search the mailbox for PlayStation security messages, password-reset requests, and purchase receipts. Do not click links in suspicious messages; open the provider directly.
- Turn on the email provider’s multifactor authentication and keep its recovery codes.
If you reused the exposed password for email, change it there before doing anything else. A password that was entered on the fake Store should be considered known to the attacker even if there is no immediate sign of misuse.

Change the PSN password or sign-in method safely
Use only official PlayStation Account Management. Navigate to Security, verify that the displayed email and account details are yours, and change the password or passkey from that page. Never use a reset link supplied by the fake Store or by an unsolicited message.
If you can still sign in
- Open Account Management and select Security.
- Change the password, or choose the passkey option if you prefer a device-based sign-in.
- Review the sign-in ID, online ID, mobile number, and 2SV settings. Undo any change you did not make.
- Sign out of other sessions if Account Management presents that control, then sign in again with the new credential.
PlayStation warns that using one password across multiple accounts increases risk when one account is compromised. Do not reuse the new PSN password anywhere else.
Turn on 2-step verification and protect the backup route
2SV adds a second check after the password. In Account Management, open Security, choose 2-step verification, and select SMS or an authenticator app. An authenticator app generally avoids dependence on cellular delivery, while SMS can be simpler when you regularly have access to the registered number. Whichever method you choose, finish enrollment and test a normal sign-in.

Save and test backup codes
PlayStation provides backup codes for 2SV. Record them before closing the security page. Store them in a password manager or another protected location, not in a screenshot available to anyone who can unlock your phone. A backup code is for account recovery; never give one to a person claiming to be Support.
If an unexpected 2SV message arrives, do not approve it and do not read a code to anyone. Change the password from Account Management, check the registered phone and authenticator, and use PlayStation’s 2SV troubleshooting guidance or Online Assistant if codes do not arrive or the settings cannot be changed.
Choose the right recovery path

If the scammer changed your PSN details
An attacker may change the sign-in ID, online ID, password, phone number, or 2SV method to lock you out. Do not keep guessing passwords; repeated attempts can complicate recovery. Use the official Account Management recovery flow and PlayStation Online Assistant. Provide the account information requested by the recovery process, including previous details and purchase information, but submit it only through official PlayStation support channels.

PlayStation states that if someone signs in, they can change sign-in information and lock you out. That is why the linked email account must be secured even when the immediate symptom is a missing PSN login. If you receive a notice that the sign-in ID changed, treat it as an account-takeover event, not as a routine email mistake.

Check purchases, subscriptions, and payment methods
A stolen password can let someone use saved payment methods or buy content through the account. Open PlayStation Store transaction history and compare every entry with your bank or card records. Review active subscriptions, renewal dates, and the payment methods attached to the account.
- Document the date, amount, item, and transaction identifier for anything you do not recognize.
- Contact PlayStation Support promptly about an unfamiliar transaction or a payment method you did not add.
- Ask your card issuer or bank about the suspicious charge if Support or the issuer directs you to do so. Keep records of reference numbers and correspondence.
- Do not delete receipts or security emails until the case is resolved.
Changing the password does not itself establish whether a charge was authorized. Transaction history and subscription settings are the records to check.

Change every reused password
If the same password was used on another service, change it there even when that account shows no suspicious activity. Prioritize email, banking, payment services, social accounts, and any account that can reset another account. Use a different password for each service and store them in a reputable password manager. PlayStation specifically recommends different passwords and keeping a password manager.
Also review browser and console password storage. Remove the old credential from autofill and update saved entries only after you have confirmed you are on the genuine service. A password manager’s warning about a reused or exposed password is a reason to replace it, not to dismiss the alert.

Recognize and avoid another fake PlayStation Store
Branding, logos, a convincing checkout design, and a padlock icon do not prove that a page is genuine. Phishing pages can copy the appearance of the real Store while sending credentials to the operator. Reach PlayStation by typing its known address, using the official console interface, or opening a bookmark you created yourself.

- Inspect the domain name carefully; small spelling changes, extra words, and deceptive subdomains are common.
- Be suspicious of urgent messages claiming your account will close unless you sign in immediately.
- Do not enter a password after following an unexpected link in an email, text, direct message, advertisement, or search result.
- Never share account details or 2SV codes with a caller, chat participant, or “support” account that contacted you first.
- Use a unique password and 2SV so a stolen password alone is less useful to an attacker.
What not to do after entering the password
- Do not log back into the fake page to see whether it still works.
- Do not send the attacker your backup codes, identity information, console serial number, or payment details.
- Do not assume that a missing charge means the account is safe; attackers may be waiting or may have changed recovery settings.
- Do not postpone securing the email account while trying to resolve a PSN login problem.
- Do not use the same replacement password on PSN and email.
When the incident is resolved
Keep the Support case number, transaction records, and security notifications until you are satisfied that the account is stable. Recheck the sign-in ID, online ID, phone number, 2SV method, backup codes, subscriptions, and payment methods after recovery. If any setting changes again, contact Support rather than attempting to negotiate with the person who operated the fake page.
The essential sequence is containment, recovery, verification, and monitoring: stop entering data on the phishing page; secure the email and PSN credentials; add 2SV with protected backup codes; verify account and financial activity; then repair every other account that reused the exposed password.
