Start by checking the delivery date in your Argos confirmation email or receipt, then compare it with the status in Your Account → Recent Orders and Argos’s tracking page. Courier texts or emails may contain a separate tracking link. This tells you whether a genuine order is moving late, whether the order was cancelled, or whether payment was only authorised and no order was created. If those records do not explain what happened, contact Argos with your order details ready.
First, identify which problem you have
A pending card transaction alone does not prove that Argos accepted an order. The confirmation message and the order record are the important evidence. Use this comparison before deciding what to do next.

When an Argos delivery is delayed
1. Confirm the promised delivery date
Open the receipt or confirmation email and find the delivery date or delivery window Argos gave you. Do not rely on the date shown in a bank app, a browser history, or an old checkout screen. If the order contains several items, check whether the message lists separate deliveries; one item can arrive while another remains outstanding.
2. Check Argos’s live order records
Sign in to your Argos account and open Recent Orders. The order details can show its current status, the available delivery date and progress updates. You can also use Argos’s tracking page. Compare the information there with the date in your confirmation message: the tracking record is the better source for a changed delivery estimate, while the confirmation establishes what was originally promised.

3. Search for a courier message
Look through text messages and email, including junk or spam folders, for a dispatch or delivery notification. Depending on the courier, Argos may send a direct tracking link by text or email. Follow that link rather than entering an order number into an unrelated tracking site. Check for a delivery scan, an attempted-delivery note, a request for access information, or an updated date.
4. Decide whether it is late or genuinely missing
An order is still in the delivery process when Recent Orders and the courier show a recognisable parcel movement, even if the last scan is old. It is a different problem when Argos shows an order but there is no usable tracking information, the promised date has passed, or the courier record cannot identify the parcel. Argos’s published help information does not set a universal number of hours or days that automatically defines a parcel as “missing,” nor does it promise a standard investigation time. Use the evidence in the account and courier records, then ask Argos to investigate.
5. Contact Argos with a complete record
Use the support options listed by Argos and explain that the promised date has passed or that the tracking information has stopped. Provide the order number, the email address used for the order and, where relevant, the delivery postcode. Include the latest tracking event and the dates of any attempted deliveries. Keeping the original confirmation and courier messages makes it easier for support to match the parcel to your account.

Allow time for the confirmation process
Argos says an order confirmation can take up to two hours. During that period, check the inbox associated with the order, the junk or spam folder and Your Account → Recent Orders. A missing email does not necessarily mean the order failed if the order is visible in Recent Orders.

Understand a pending bank transaction
If two hours have passed, there is still no confirmation or Recent Orders entry, and your bank shows a pending transaction, Argos says this may be a pending order. In that situation, payment was attempted but Argos did not generate an order. A pending authorisation is not evidence that a parcel is being prepared or shipped.
Argos says the pending funds will be released automatically within five working days, often sooner. The exact time can depend on the card issuer’s own release process. Do not place a duplicate order solely because you see the pending amount; first establish whether an actual order exists, or ask Argos to clarify the transaction.
When to ask Argos to check
Contact Argos if an order appears in Recent Orders but no confirmation can be found, if the payment remains unresolved after the stated release period, or if you cannot tell whether the transaction is a pending authorisation or a completed payment. Give support the transaction date, amount, payment method, email address and any reference shown by your bank. Never send a full card number or security code through ordinary customer-service messages.
If an Argos order is missing from your account
Check the account and email identity
Make sure you are signed in with the same email address used at checkout. Search all likely inboxes for an Argos confirmation and search by the order number if you have one. If you checked out without creating or using the account you normally use, the order may not appear where you expect it; the confirmation email remains the key record.

Separate an absent order from a late parcel
An absent Recent Orders entry combined with a pending transaction points toward the pending-order situation described above. An order that is visible in Recent Orders but has no delivery or courier progress is an existing order requiring a status check. Tell Argos which of these two records you have; it prevents support from treating a payment authorisation as proof of dispatch.
If Argos cancelled the order
Cancellation you requested
If you asked to cancel but did not receive a confirmation, open Your Account → Recent Orders and look for the cancelled status. If the order is not listed or the status is uncertain, contact Argos rather than assuming the cancellation succeeded.
Trying to cancel an order yourself

- Sign in to your Argos account.
- Open Recent Orders.
- Select the relevant order and open its details.
- Choose the cancellation control if it is displayed, then follow the confirmation prompts.
Argos does not make this control available for every order. If the option is missing, the order may have reached a stage where online cancellation is unavailable, or it may follow a separate collection process. For a home-delivery order that cannot be cancelled in the account, contact Argos. Special collection routes can have their own instructions, so follow the instructions attached to that order instead of assuming the standard control will appear.

Cancellation you did not request
Argos says there can be several reasons for an unexpected cancellation, but its public help answer does not provide an exhaustive list or confirm a particular cause for an individual order. Do not assume that stock, payment checks or a delivery problem caused your cancellation unless Argos confirms it. Check Recent Orders for the cancellation status and contact Argos for the order-specific explanation and next step.
How long an Argos refund can take
Argos says it can trigger a refund immediately when an order is cancelled or when an item is returned in store. “Processed” means Argos has initiated the refund; it does not mean the amount is already visible in your bank or payment account. The receiving provider controls the final posting time.

These are the periods Argos publishes for the respective payment methods, not a promise that every refund will take the full period. If the applicable period expires without the money appearing, contact Argos through its listed support options and state the order number, cancellation or return date, payment method and amount. Keep any refund reference Argos gives you for the payment provider.

What to prepare before contacting Argos
- Order number, if one was issued.
- Email address used at checkout.
- Delivery postcode for a home-delivery order.
- Promised delivery date from the confirmation or receipt.
- Latest status shown in Recent Orders and on the tracking page.
- Courier name, tracking reference and the time of the latest scan, if supplied.
- Payment date, amount and method, without sharing a full card number or security code.
- Dates and amounts of any refund, cancellation or return confirmation.
Describe the outcome you need—delivery investigation, confirmation that no order was generated, cancellation status, or refund trace. A precise request is easier to route than a message that only says the order is “missing.”

Common mistakes that slow resolution
Treating a pending authorisation as a shipped order
Use the confirmation and Recent Orders record to establish that an order exists. The bank’s pending line is a payment state, not a dispatch event.
Repeating a cancellation request
After using the cancellation control, check Recent Orders for the resulting status. Repeated requests can create confusion about which order or item you mean, especially when an order has multiple deliveries.
Counting calendar days when the published limit uses working days
For a bank or card refund, Argos’s published period is expressed in working days. Weekends and bank holidays can therefore make the calendar interval longer than the number shown in the help guidance.

Because Argos does not publish a complete reason list in its cancellation help answer, speculation can send you down the wrong route. Ask support for the reason attached to your order and whether a new order is required.
