First identify what went wrong: an AI assistant may have described a photo inaccurately, Google Photos may have grouped or named a person or pet incorrectly, or a different app may have produced the label. Those are separate problems with separate correction routes. For an inaccurate Ask Photos answer, Google provides an in-app feedback option; for an incorrect face or pet label, use Google Photos’ face-group label controls. Submitting feedback is a report, not a promise that the current answer or saved label will be corrected.
What kind of photo mistake are you seeing?
Before correcting anything, distinguish the assistant’s answer from the information attached to a face group. An AI-generated description or search response should not be treated as verified fact.
- The assistant’s words are wrong: For example, Ask Photos gives an inaccurate answer about what appears in an image or returns a mistaken response to a library search. Report the response through Ask Photos.
- A person or pet is grouped or named incorrectly: This is a face-group or label issue in Google Photos. Use the people-and-pets label controls available in your version of the app; rating an assistant response is not the same as editing a label.
- A different app or operating-system feature made the mistake: Look for that feature’s own correction or feedback instructions. There is no single documented correction workflow that applies to every photo assistant.
How do I report an inaccurate Ask Photos answer?
Google describes Ask Photos as experimental and warns that it may return unexpected or inaccurate results. The interface and feature availability can vary by region and access. Google’s current support instructions document these steps for iPhone and iPad:
- Open Ask Photos and find the response you want to report.
- Tap the thumbs-down control beneath the response.
- Optionally add details about what was wrong, then send the feedback.

Google says feedback can help improve Ask Photos. Treat it as reporting a problem: the documentation does not promise an immediate change to the answer you are viewing, a correction to the underlying photo information, or a fix to a separate face-group label. Google also says you can remove feedback by tapping the rating control again.
How do I correct a wrong face or pet label in Google Photos?
Google Photos supports grouping faces and assigning labels to people or pets; labeled groups can then be searched by label. These labels are separate from an assistant’s generated answer. If the assistant says the wrong thing about an image, correcting a face-group label is not necessarily the right remedy. If the group or its name is wrong, use the people-and-pets label controls in your version of Google Photos to manage it.

Google’s Help page about grouping faces and labeling people and pets explains the feature. It does not establish one universal correction sequence for every mistaken grouping or app version, so follow the controls shown in your app rather than assuming a particular menu path or that a change will propagate in a specific way.
What should I check before sending photo feedback?
Review the feedback notice before submitting. Google says an Ask Photos report may include a list of photos and videos considered for the answer, with related details such as timestamps, locations, faces, and sometimes AI-generated text descriptions. It may also include details about studied face groups, including name labels. Avoid adding sensitive information that is not needed to explain the error.

Google’s privacy documentation says voice recordings are not stored when voice search is used. That statement is limited to voice recordings; it does not mean a feedback report contains no other photo-related information. See Google’s Privacy Policy for its privacy information.

Apple’s iPhone guide describes Apple Intelligence features in Photos, including finding images from a description, but it does not provide a specific procedure for correcting a mistaken AI label. Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines say machine-learning mistakes should be correctable and use cropping a photo as an example; that is design guidance, not confirmation of a particular Photos control.

For Apple Photos or another service, consult the current help page for the specific feature and your device’s software version. Do not assume it offers Ask Photos’ thumbs-down route or that its feedback process changes a saved label.
