If a Pokémon TCG order arrives crushed, torn, missing contents, or with a seal that looks altered, keep everything as received, document the visible problem, and contact the seller promptly. The seller determines the claim route: Pokémon Center US has a published return process for eligible direct purchases, while purchases from game shops, marketplaces, and other retailers must be handled under that seller’s policy. An unusual seal can justify asking questions, but appearance alone does not prove that a product was resealed.
What to do first
- Keep the shipment and product as they arrived. Do not discard the shipping carton, label, inserts, or product packaging. If the item is still unopened and your concern is its seal, leave it unopened while you ask the seller how to proceed; opening it just to investigate may complicate the claim.
- Document observable details. Photograph the shipping box and label, each side of the product, and close-ups of tears, crushed areas, openings, or seals that look different from what you expected. Save the order confirmation, receipt, and messages with the seller. This is a practical precaution, not a universal evidence requirement stated by Pokémon Center.
- Confirm who sold it and where you bought it. Check the order confirmation or receipt. Pokémon Center’s policies apply to eligible direct purchases from the relevant regional store, not automatically to products from another retailer or marketplace.
- Contact the seller promptly. Describe what you can see—such as a torn flap, crushed box, missing packs, or an apparently altered seal—rather than asserting that the product was tampered with if you cannot establish that. Ask what evidence they need and what to do before mailing anything back or discarding packaging.
- Use the correct support route. For a Pokémon Center order, follow its return or support instructions. For a third-party purchase, contact that retailer or marketplace seller first; Pokémon Center directs customers who bought from a retailer to confirm the retailer’s return policy.
How Pokémon Center US handles damaged orders
For eligible direct purchases from Pokémon Center US, items that are damaged or defective may be returned for a refund within 30 days of delivery, except final-sale items. Pokémon Center says it does not offer exchanges at this time. These are US store terms; check the relevant regional Pokémon Center for purchases made elsewhere. Damage to the product versus wear to its packaging
Pokémon Center distinguishes damage to an item from wear to packaging intended to protect it. Its US guidance says outer packaging—such as wrap, a cardboard box, sleeve, or metal tin—may show normal shipping wear and is not guaranteed to arrive undamaged. Final-sale items cannot be returned for a refund because of damage to the box or outer wrap alone. If cards or other contents are damaged, missing, or otherwise defective, describe that specifically when contacting support.
Starting a Pokémon Center return
Pokémon Center’s return instructions require the fulfillment ID and the email address used for the order. If you have an account, look for the fulfillment ID in your order history. If you checked out as a guest, use the order ID and shipping postal code to look up the order. Refunds go to the original purchaser and the original payment method or account. Follow the particular order’s instructions before sending anything back. Pokémon Center’s general guidance asks customers to pack returns adequately and, if possible, use the original shipping packaging; returns without it may be subject to a restocking fee. For support in the US, Canada, and UK, Pokémon Center lists chat with agents available 24/7 and email tickets that typically receive a response within 24 hours; it does not offer phone support. Its contact page lists the available channels.
If the cards are damaged or you suspect a manufacturing defect
Damage that happened during shipment or another outside event is different from a manufacturing, printing, or packaging defect. Pokémon Support says its ability to replace cards is limited: it cannot replace cards damaged by outside events and recommends trying to return those purchases to the retailer. For a suspected manufacturing error or alteration, it asks customers to scan each affected card front and back and submit a ticket with proof of purchase and identifying information. A separate Pokémon Support process covers manufacturing defects in products bought from third-party retailers. It requests a store receipt, the number or a photo of the UPC on the original package, photos of defective cards or parts, a photo showing the opened contents laid out, and a short explanation. The process applies only to products released within the last year and requires contacting Pokémon Support with the requested details within 10 business days of the original purchase. Those conditions belong to this specific manufacturing-defect channel; they are not a general deadline or evidence rule for shipping damage or suspected resealing. How to handle a product that looks resealed
Report what looks unusual and ask the seller to investigate; do not treat a visual impression as proof. The official guidance reviewed does not provide a forensic test that can establish whether a particular Pokémon TCG product was resealed. Pokémon’s counterfeit guidance says fake booster packs can be difficult to distinguish, warns that a price dramatically below suggested retail can be a warning sign, and recommends becoming familiar with official product images.
