Before buying an OLED gaming monitor on sale, check that its resolution and refresh rate suit your PC or console, verify its exact HDR certification and connections, and read the warranty and return terms for the specific regional model. Then compare the live checkout price—not an expired promotion—with other monitors that meet your needs.

Choose a resolution and size your system can handle

Resolution, screen size, viewing distance, and graphics performance work together. A higher resolution can show more detail, but it also asks more of the GPU. Think about whether your games benefit more from sharper images or higher frame rates, and whether your system can drive the display at the settings you plan to use.

LG’s buying guidance says screens of 27 inches or larger can pair well with QHD, 4K, or higher resolutions. It also cautions that 4K may be poor value with a mid-range or older GPU, or for competitive shooters where high frame rates matter more. This is manufacturer guidance, not an independent comparison: LG’s guide to choosing a gaming monitor.

Match refresh rate to the resolution and frame rate you’ll use

A high refresh rate can make motion look smoother, particularly in competitive games, but the monitor’s headline maximum is useful only if your PC or console can produce the corresponding frame rate. Check the refresh rate at the display’s native resolution, and inspect any dual-mode options to see which resolution and refresh rate are available together. LG’s guide discusses balancing resolution and refresh rate for the intended games and system: LG’s gaming-monitor buying guide.

For example, LG’s UK product page for the 27GX790A-B identifies a 480Hz refresh rate and ClearMR 21000 certification. Those are published specifications for that model, not a promise that a connected system will reach 480 frames per second: LG 27GX790A-B specifications.

Verify the exact HDR certification

Do not treat an “HDR” label by itself as proof of strong HDR performance. VESA’s DisplayHDR tiers set requirements that include luminance, color gamut, contrast or black level, and color error. VESA recommends looking for products tested and certified under DisplayHDR or DisplayHDR True Black, and distinguishes the formal “DisplayHDR 400” tier from generic wording such as “HDR-400.” Check the exact monitor in VESA’s certified-products listing.

Check ports and adaptive sync for your device

Confirm the exact port versions and bandwidth on the model you are buying. Check HDMI and DisplayPort against your PC or console, and verify whether you need USB-C for video or other connections. A port’s physical shape alone does not establish that it supports the resolution and refresh rate you want.

Consider OLED care, desktop use, and warranty terms

OLED can suit gaming where deep blacks and fast response are priorities, but it is not automatically the best fit for every use. LG’s manufacturer guidance presents IPS as a possible choice for mixed competitive gaming and everyday desktop use. Treat this as guidance about trade-offs, not independent test evidence: LG’s OLED-versus-IPS discussion.

ASUS warns that image persistence or burn-in can occur when a static, high-contrast image remains on screen for a prolonged period. Consider how much of your day involves static desktop elements, and inspect the monitor’s pixel-cleaning and other OLED-protection settings. Most importantly, read the warranty for the exact SKU and country; the presence of a protection feature does not establish warranty coverage. Compare the sale on the exact model and final terms

A discount is only useful if the monitor fits your needs and the deal applies to the exact model, seller, and region. Check the final checkout price, return terms, and applicable warranty before ordering. Promotions have end dates: LG’s US promotion page displayed an end date of October 4, 2026, so that offer had expired by October 7, 2026. It should not be treated as a current deal: LG US promotions.

When two or more displays meet your requirements, compare them on the same decision points rather than choosing by discount percentage alone:

  • Resolution and pixel density at your normal viewing distance.
  • Refresh rate at the resolution you will actually use, including any dual-mode combinations.
  • Verified HDR tier, using VESA’s listing rather than a generic HDR label.
  • Ports, bandwidth, USB-C needs, and adaptive-sync compatibility.
  • Screen size, aspect ratio, and curvature for your desk and games.
  • OLED protection features and the exact regional warranty.
  • Seller return terms and the final live checkout price.

Specifications and warranty coverage can differ by region and SKU, so use the manufacturer’s documentation for the exact product listing rather than assuming similarly named models are identical.
