Before buying a Vivo phone, verify the exact model and regional variant, the seller, carrier compatibility, warranty coverage in the country where you will use it, and the return terms. After you receive the phone, compare its IMEI with the packaging and paperwork, inspect it, and test basic functions while you can still return or replace it.
Before you pay: confirm the phone and the seller
Match the exact model and configuration
Compare the listing or box with Vivo’s product information for the country where you are buying. Confirm the model name and number, RAM and storage configuration, color, and regional version; similar names do not guarantee identical variants. Vivo’s catalog is market-specific and can change, so choose the local country site where available: Vivo’s product catalog.
Check who is actually selling it
On a marketplace, check the merchant named on the specific listing and the seller shown at checkout. A marketplace’s name alone does not establish that a particular merchant is authorized by Vivo. Vivo’s India E-Store identifies itself as Vivo Mobile India Private Limited’s official exclusive online store, but that statement applies to that store in India: India E-Store support and store policies.
For any seller, ask what warranty applies, where repairs can be claimed, whether Vivo accepts the seller’s channel, and what proof of purchase you will need. Keep the order confirmation, invoice, listing details, and seller correspondence.

Check compatibility before importing
Before ordering a phone from another country, check the exact model and regional version with your carrier. Vivo’s international warranty information notes that differences in regional network modes can mean a phone may not connect as expected even when it has no device fault. Confirm compatibility with the carrier rather than relying on the phone’s name or a seller’s general claim: Vivo India’s International Warranty Service information.
Know what warranty and repair support apply where you live
Warranty is not automatically worldwide. Coverage can depend on the purchase country, model eligibility, sales channel, local terms, and valid proof of purchase. Use the Vivo support page for the market where you are buying, and confirm the terms for the specific phone before paying.
India policy examples
Vivo India’s warranty FAQ says its standard warranty applies to products bought in India and serviced at authorized Vivo centers in India. It lists one year for handset hardware and six months for the original battery, adapter, and other accessories packaged with the phone. A service center checks eligibility, valid proof of purchase may be required, and cross-border service does not necessarily include returns or replacement. The same guidance warns that regional network-mode differences can affect use: Multiple Countries Warranty Service and International Warranty Service.
Vivo India’s purchase terms say its E-Store ships only within India and that warranty, support, and other services for goods resold from the site are not transferable. Do not assume that an imported or resold phone inherits the original buyer’s service rights: Vivo India payment terms and policies.
Read the return and replacement terms before checkout
Find the retailer’s deadline and check the conditions for returning a phone, including its condition, packaging, shipping costs, and how a refund or replacement is handled. These rules vary by retailer and country, so do not treat one Vivo store’s policy as a global promise.
For example, Vivo India’s E-Store advertises a 15-day replacement policy and says an invoice can be used for service-center support. Vivo China’s online-store guidance describes a seven-day return period for purchases through that store and instructs buyers to match the returned phone’s IMEI. These are separate market-specific examples, not universal Vivo terms: India E-Store policies and Vivo China online-store return and exchange guidance.

When you inspect the phone or receive a delivery
Check the device identity

Find the IMEI by dialing
*#06#or checking the phone’s settings. -
Compare the displayed IMEI with the box and purchase paperwork wherever those identifiers are shown.

Use Vivo’s IMEI authentication page to check the device identifier.
An IMEI authentication check is useful, but it does not establish that the seller is authorized or settle every warranty condition. Keep the invoice as proof of purchase.
Inspect condition and test basic functions

Check the display, housing, camera glass, ports, and included items for visible damage or omissions.

If the seller or retailer permits it, test touch input, cameras, charging, speakers, buttons, and the SIM/network connection before the return or replacement period ends.

Keep the packaging and invoice until you are satisfied and have confirmed the applicable return window.

Use this final buying checklist

You will retain the invoice, order confirmation, listing details, and packaging, and compare the phone’s IMEI with the available identifiers.
