A sale badge is not enough to tell whether a 65-inch TV is a good buy. Check the exact model and size variant, then compare its tested picture and gaming performance with what your room and devices need. Finally, judge the checkout price against comparable sets and the model’s price history, including delivery, returns, and warranty.
Start with the exact model number
Write down the manufacturer, full model number, 65-inch size variant, and series or model year. Confirm whether the listing is for a new, refurbished, or open-box set, and compare only listings with matching size, model, and condition. A shared label such as “OLED,” “QLED,” or “Mini LED” does not establish that two televisions perform alike.

Use a review or comparison for the exact model rather than assuming a different size in the same series has identical specifications. RTINGS’ 2026 65-inch TV guide compares models across picture quality, inputs, and gaming features; its comparison tool presents model-specific categories such as brightness, contrast, refresh rate, and HDR support.

Bright rooms and reflections
If the TV will face windows or lights, look for independent measurements of brightness and reflection handling. A set that performs well in a dark room may be harder to watch in a bright one. Consider the direction and intensity of light at the hours you usually watch, not just the room’s appearance when the TV is off.
#1 Best Overall
- Breathtaking picture: Sharp 4K brings out rich detail on our 65" flat screen TV, while the QLED screen and HDR10 create bright, accurate colors. Roku Smart Picture cleans up incoming TV signals, optimizes them, and chooses the right picture mode.
- Seamless streaming: With fast Wi-Fi and apps that launch in a snap, Roku Select Series TVs get you to your entertainment quickly. You get excellent picture quality, clear sound, automatic updates, and more. It’s simple to use. Hard to outgrow.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
- A world of free entertainment: Enjoy a huge selection of free live TV, news, sports, movies, shows, and much more—all just a click away.
- More streaming, less searching: With personalized picks right on your Home Screen, quick access to the sports and entertainment you watch most, and fast and easy search in one place—the days of endless scrolling are over.
Dark rooms and wide seating
For a dim room or home theater, compare black levels, contrast, and whether bright objects create visible blooming around them. If people watch from seats spread across the room, check how well the picture holds up off-axis. OLED is broadly associated with deep blacks and strong motion handling, while QLED models are often associated with bright, vivid color, but these are tendencies rather than guarantees for every model. RTINGS’ QLED-versus-OLED overview likewise frames the choice as dependent on priorities rather than a universal winner.
Check motion, refresh rate, and gaming connections
For sports and fast action, compare motion handling and processing in independent testing. Processing also matters if you often watch lower-quality or compressed video.
For console or PC gaming, verify the exact set’s native refresh rate, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and the resolution and refresh-rate combinations it supports. Check the specifications of each HDMI input: a general “HDMI 2.1” or high-refresh label does not tell you that every port supports the capability your device needs. Confirm that the intended console or PC can use the required input and settings on that TV.

Verify HDR performance and format support
HDR is not a single specification. Check both the model’s measured HDR brightness and the HDR formats it supports; format compatibility and brightness are separate comparison points. Match those formats to the streaming services, games, or discs you actually use. A supported format alone does not establish how convincing HDR will look, and a brightness figure alone does not establish whether your content’s format is compatible.
Compare the real value of the sale
Compare the checkout price with the same model’s recent price history and with similarly capable 65-inch alternatives. Then account for delivery, installation, any mounting requirements, the return window, and warranty terms. A lower sticker price may not be the lower-cost choice once those terms are included.
As one limited reference point, RTINGS’ 2026 guide to TVs under $2,000 reports that the 65-inch LG C6 is regularly below $2,000 during frequent sales. That is a price-tier observation, not a live offer or historical price chart; it does not guarantee that a listing at or below that amount is a good deal across retailers or markets. Check the current listing and your local terms before deciding.
