Before buying—or heading to—the college football exhibition, check the chosen school’s current event page for five things: whether you need a ticket, the full cost, the seating arrangement, the event schedule and format, and the venue’s parking and entry rules. “Exhibition” does not mean every school offers the same ticket or game-day experience.

Do I need a ticket, and what will it cost?

Start with the official athletics event page or ticket office. Admission may be free without a ticket, free but require a ticket to be claimed, or paid. These are different arrangements: a free event can still require advance action for entry.

For example, Clemson’s 2026 spring-game guide said admission was free and no ticket was needed. UCLA’s 2026 announcement offered free admission to fans who requested a ticket. Ohio State’s 2026 announcement listed paid ticket categories. Those events have passed; they illustrate why you should verify the terms for your chosen school and year rather than relying on a past game.

  • Is a ticket required? If it is free, must you claim it in advance?
  • What is the listed price for each section or ticket category?
  • Could service, delivery, or resale fees raise the total? Ohio State said service charges might apply to its 2026 tickets.
  • Does the school link to the seller, and what are the seller’s cancellation, postponement, transfer, and refund terms?

Use the ticket channel linked by the school and follow its delivery and entry directions. Ticket access can be mobile: USC’s stadium event page describes mobile ticketing, but the instructions for your event and seller are the ones to follow. Do not assume a ticket can be printed, transferred, or added to a wallet unless the current instructions say so.

What kind of seat does the ticket provide?

Check whether seats are reserved, general admission, unreserved, or first-come, first-served. A ticket price alone does not tell you whether you can choose a seat or whether a particular section is open.

Clemson described unreserved seating for its 2026 spring game. Ohio State’s 2026 event listed general-admission, reserved AA deck, and club categories. Its announced prices were $13, $30, and $60 respectively, with service charges possibly applying. Those are historical event-specific prices, not current offers.

Compare the event’s seating map and ticket descriptions. If there is a premium category, check what it actually includes rather than assuming it is the right choice for every attendee.

What is the event format, and when should I arrive?

A spring exhibition may be a scrimmage, open practice, shortened game, or another format. The format affects what you will see and how long you may want to stay, so look for the event description and timeline rather than assuming a regular-season game schedule.

James Madison University described its 2026 spring event as a scrimmage with a running clock and published a timeline. UCLA said its 2026 format would be determined closer to the event. These examples show that details can vary even between programs.

  • What time do gates open, and when is kickoff or the first activity?
  • Are there scheduled team activities or entertainment before or after play?
  • Is the format and expected length confirmed, or does the school say details will come later?

Where do I park, and what should I check before driving?

Read the current event and venue parking instructions for lot locations, opening times, prices, passes, shuttles, accessible parking, and any tailgating restrictions. Parking arrangements can change by event and year; do not treat free parking at another school’s spring game as a general rule.

For their specific 2026 spring games, James Madison University and UCLA announced free parking. That does not establish parking terms for other events or later seasons. Check the selected school’s current directions before setting out, including which lots are open and how to reach the stadium from them.

What can I bring, and what are the stadium entry rules?

Check the chosen venue’s rules for bag dimensions, prohibited items, security screening, re-entry, accessibility, and weather procedures. Bag policies are not uniform, even for spring exhibitions: James Madison, UCLA, and Clemson said clear-bag rules applied to their respective 2026 events, while Georgia Southern explicitly said its 2026 event did not have a clear-bag policy.

Those past event rules are examples, not current guidance. Confirm the exact venue’s current policy before packing or buying a bag. A clear bag is useful only if the event requires or permits it in the size and form you plan to bring.

Use this checklist before checkout

  1. Open the chosen school’s current athletics event page or ticket-office listing.
  2. Confirm whether entry requires a paid ticket, a claimed free ticket, or no ticket.
  3. Check the price by category and the total after any stated charges; review the seller’s terms.
  4. Verify the seating type, open sections, and what any premium category includes.
  5. Confirm the format, gates-open time, kickoff, activity schedule, and any details still to be announced.
  6. Read current parking directions, costs, lot hours, and accessibility or shuttle information.
  7. Check the venue’s bag, prohibited-item, screening, re-entry, mobility-access, and weather rules.
  8. Follow the event’s ticket-delivery and entry instructions, including any mobile-ticket requirements.
