The Monaco Yacht Show brings buyers and a broad range of superyacht specialists together in Port Hercule. That concentration makes it easier to see how a yacht project depends on many kinds of expertise—and why trust cannot rest on a single broker or builder. The event creates opportunities to meet and compare professionals; it does not certify them or prove that a transaction is safe.
What is the Monaco Yacht Show?
The Monaco Yacht Show describes itself as an annual superyachting event in Port Hercule, Monaco, dating to 1991. Its stated purpose includes helping visitors discover and compare yacht purchase and charter projects. The official overview describes an edition with 118 expected superyachts, around sixty luxury tenders and more than 560 exhibitors; those are edition-sensitive show figures, not a guarantee of the line-up each year. The event is best understood not just as a display of vessels, but as a meeting place for people and businesses involved in yacht projects. The show’s 2026 exhibitor announcement lists shipyards, brokerage houses, naval architects, designers, equipment makers, project-management specialists and technical service providers. The exhibitor mix maps onto the different responsibilities that can arise in buying, building, outfitting or operating a superyacht. A buyer may need design advice and construction expertise, but also brokerage, technical work, insurance, legal support and ongoing management. The people selling or providing these services do not all perform the same role, so a relationship with one professional does not replace scrutiny of the others.

The show’s media kit reports 29,956 prospective clients and industry players and 564 exhibitors for 2025. These are organizer-reported figures; the media-kit text does not explain its counting methodology or establish an independent audit. Monaco Yacht Show media kit
The show’s 2026 announcement frames the exhibitor list as a way for visitors to plan important conversations. Toby Moore, CEO of Informa Prestige, said: “The Exhibitor List offers the first glimpse of the exceptional concentration of expertise that will come together at this year’s Monaco Yacht Show and gives visitors the opportunity to start planning the conversations that matter most.” That is the organizer’s account of the event’s value, not independent evidence of better transaction outcomes. 2026 exhibitor announcement

Why is trust distributed across a yacht project?
Trust in this business has to be considered role by role. A broker may advise on a purchase, a shipyard may build a vessel, a designer may shape its layout, and a technical provider may install or maintain equipment. An insurer, lawyer or yacht manager has a different responsibility again. The show’s broad service mix makes that division of work visible, but it does not establish a standard for judging individual providers.
The scale of the production base is another reason not to assume that one name or introduction settles the question. The Monaco Yacht Show’s 2024 market report says 239 shipyards completed a superyacht during 2014–2023, while 38 yards delivered ten or more yachts in that period. How can a buyer assess a broker, builder or specialist?
Use meetings at the show to ask focused questions and gather material to verify afterward. The following are practical diligence questions, not procedures prescribed by the event or its sources.
- Clarify role and scope. Ask exactly what the person or company will do, what falls outside that work, and which other specialists are needed.
- Check comparable experience. Request examples of projects similar in type, size and stage, along with references that you can verify independently.
- Establish accountability. Identify who is responsible for advice, inspection, execution, and support after delivery or sale. Put responsibilities and deliverables in writing.
- Ask about incentives. Find out who pays the intermediary, whom they represent, and whether commissions or other interests could affect their advice.
- Match expertise to the project and jurisdiction. A purchase, new build, charter or refit can involve different skills and legal settings. Confirm relevant experience for the work and places involved.
Compare providers on these points rather than treating a prominent exhibition presence or a warm introduction as proof of reliability. Where a decision has significant financial or technical consequences, seek appropriately qualified independent advice for that specific decision.

What the show can—and cannot—tell a buyer
The Monaco Yacht Show can put buyers in the same place as professionals from across the superyacht project chain, making direct conversations and comparisons possible. Its exhibitor categories and published figures describe the event’s breadth and scale. They do not measure trust, verify an individual company’s conduct, or guarantee a safe purchase, build, charter or refit. The useful takeaway is narrower: the business involves many interdependent specialists, and buyers need to assess each relationship on its own evidence.
