The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27UCWM combines a 26.5-inch, 3840×2160 WOLED panel with a Tandem RGB OLED technology label and an RGB-stripe subpixel layout. Its Dual Mode offers up to 4K at 240Hz or Full HD at 480Hz—not 4K at 480Hz. ASUS says the RGB layout omits the white subpixel used in conventional WOLED and claims up to 27% greater color volume; those benefits remain manufacturer claims, not independently established results.

What is tandem OLED in the PG27UCWM?

ASUS lists the panel type as WOLED and the panel technology as Tandem RGB OLED. These labels describe different aspects of the display: WOLED is ASUS’s panel-type classification, while Tandem RGB OLED names the technology ASUS specifies for this model. The WOLED label alone does not establish that the PG27UCWM uses the same subpixel arrangement as older white-subpixel WOLED products.

ASUS also describes the display’s pixel layout as an RGB stripe and specifies a TrueBlack Glossy coating. The stripe describes the arrangement of red, green and blue subpixels; “Tandem” is part of ASUS’s panel-technology description. ASUS says this design removes the white subpixel found in conventional WOLED panels, aiming for sharper text edges and more precise color. It claims up to 27% larger color volume, particularly at high luminance. Those are vendor claims: independent measurements of text clarity, color volume or perceived brightness have not been established here. ASUS’s July 15, 2026 availability announcement calls the panel “4K true Tandem RGB OLED” and describes its imagery as “supersharp” and colors as “incredibly accurate”; that wording is marketing, not an independent finding.

Does the PG27UCWM run 4K at 240Hz, and can it do 480Hz?

Yes, ASUS lists two distinct Dual Mode settings. A hotkey switches between them. The resolution tradeoff is central: 4K favors detail, while Full HD favors a higher refresh ceiling.

Mode Resolution Maximum refresh rate Best suited to
High detail 3840×2160 (4K) 240Hz Games where higher resolution is the priority
High refresh 1920×1080 (Full HD) 480Hz Games where a higher refresh rate is the priority

The 480Hz figure applies to Full HD mode; it does not mean the monitor runs 4K at 480Hz. ASUS also specifies a 0.03ms GTG response time. That is a manufacturer response-time specification, not an independently measured input-lag result or a guarantee of a particular end-to-end gaming experience. The host computer, connection and cable must support the desired resolution and refresh combination; ASUS’s product information does not establish that every computer can drive every mode.

What does “RGB stripe OLED” change compared with standard WOLED?

In ASUS’s description, the key distinction is the subpixel arrangement: this model uses an RGB stripe and omits the white subpixel ASUS says is found in conventional WOLED. The company presents that arrangement as a route to sharper text edges, more precise color and greater color volume. It is useful to distinguish the construction claim from the outcome: ASUS identifies the layout and makes comparative performance claims, but the available product information does not independently verify text rendering, color-volume gains or how the display compares in use with a standard WOLED monitor.

What color and HDR specifications does ASUS list?

ASUS specifies 99% DCI-P3 coverage, true 10-bit color and Delta E<2, and lists Dolby Vision and VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black. Its UK specification page lists 250 cd/m² typical brightness and a 1,000 cd/m² peak HDR figure; ASUS notes that peak brightness may vary with color pre-calibration. These are specifications and claims, not independent measurements of HDR performance. A peak figure by itself does not establish how bright the monitor will appear across different scenes.

Which connections and OLED protections are included?

Video and USB-C

ASUS lists DisplayPort 2.1a UHBR20 with 80Gbps bandwidth, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C with 90W Power Delivery. The USB-C power delivery can be useful with a compatible laptop, but it does not guarantee that every laptop can use one cable for all signals and features. Check the computer’s output capabilities and the cable specification for the mode you plan to use.

Heat management and OLED Care Pro

ASUS says its GaNFET power design improves heat dissipation and power efficiency. It claims nearly 35% less waste heat and a 10% lower vent temperature compared with previous OLED monitors without its GaNFET solution. These are ASUS comparisons, not independent power or temperature measurements, and do not establish long-term panel life.

ASUS lists OLED Care Pro features including a Neo Proximity Sensor, five adjustable motion-sensitivity settings and an Auto Away timer configurable from 1 to 15 minutes. These protections do not mean burn-in is impossible.
