His reported emphasis on indigenous capabilities points to the development of equipment and platforms within India. The article, however, gives no production data or comparison with other navies, so it does not establish how the Navy ranks by any specific measure.
Why did he refer to Operation Trident?
The report says Singh recalled the Navy’s role in the 1971 war, particularly Operation Trident, as an example of maritime defence and the ability to project power.
