A PFAS blood test measures selected PFAS compounds in your blood at the time of the draw. It does not diagnose a PFAS-related illness, reveal where or when exposure happened, show that PFAS caused a pregnancy complication, or predict how your pregnancy or baby will do. Bring the result and your exposure concerns to your prenatal clinician; the meaning depends on what the lab measured and what decisions, if any, the result could change.
What do my PFAS blood test results mean?
The result reports concentrations of the specific PFAS included in that laboratory’s test. It is a snapshot, not a complete record of every PFAS exposure: only certain compounds can be measured, and the compounds tested may not represent all PFAS you encountered. For compounds that remain in the body for a long time, a measured level can reflect past as well as recent exposure. It cannot establish when exposure occurred or how long it lasted.
ATSDR describes PFAS blood testing as providing concentrations of specific compounds at a point in time, while noting that limitations constrain its clinical usefulness. The agency also says nearly all people in the United States have measurable PFAS in their blood. A detectable result, by itself, is therefore not a diagnosis or proof of illness. ATSDR’s 2024 clinician guidance and its public guidance on PFAS testing explain these limits.

Ask whether the report lists individual compounds or an aggregate, which compounds were included, and how the laboratory reports its results. Assays and laboratories can differ, so comparing results from different labs may be difficult. A one-time result also has no established expiration date for clinical use; the value and timing of repeat testing are unknown.

- IMPORTANT - We are only able to test samples sent from customers who reside in the USA.
There is no universal danger line
ATSDR has not established health-based screening guidance based on PFAS blood levels. Its clinician guidance discusses screening thresholds proposed by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) as an additional consideration, not as ATSDR rules or universal thresholds for harm. In estimates for the U.S. population represented by NHANES 2017–2018, ATSDR reports that 98% had summed PFAS blood levels of at least 2 ng/mL and 9% had levels of at least 20 ng/mL. These are population estimates, not pregnancy-specific statistics, individual risk predictions, or proof that a person above either value has been harmed.
Can PFAS in my blood cause preeclampsia?
Studies have associated PFAS exposure with pregnancy-induced hypertension and preeclampsia, as well as small decreases in birth weight. Those are associations at the population level: these outcomes can occur in pregnancies regardless of PFAS exposure, and a blood result cannot establish that PFAS caused a complication in an individual pregnancy.

- ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM START TO READ - The whole test runs on your own counter in roughly 10 minutes: no lab visit, no sample mailed away, no waiting days for an answer.
- THREE STEPS, NO MESS LEFT BEHIND - A simplified drip-and-read process with no smearing, no shaking, and no tray of leftover residue to rinse out afterward. Set up so a first-time user can finish the entire test alone - no second person needed to read the outcome.
- HIGH-CONTRAST COLOR INDICATORS - Bold, well-separated color reactions are designed to be read at a glance, so you are not squinting at a faint line and guessing which way it leans. A printed reference card walks you through matching each reaction to the correct blood type letter.
- SECOND-GENERATION CARD, STABLE READ - The redesigned reagent card holds its color reaction steady after the first read, so re-checking your result a minute later gives the same answer. No fading card, no wasted second test.
- ALL 8 ABO / Rh TYPES FROM ONE SAMPLE - Covers A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, O- with the Rh factor included, all from a single sample.
ATSDR recommends usual prenatal care, including close blood-pressure monitoring during pregnancy. Do not change prenatal screening or treatment solely because of a PFAS blood number; discuss your result and care with your clinician. The test cannot diagnose a current condition or reliably predict a future one.

No. A PFAS blood test does not predict an individual baby’s health, fetal growth, or pregnancy outcome. It cannot rule out future health problems either. The result alone does not establish that a fetus was harmed or that additional tests would help. Your prenatal clinician can interpret the result alongside your health, pregnancy, and exposure history and advise whether any care beyond usual standards is appropriate.

Compared with outdated smear kits, this drip-style blood testing kit blood type delivers doubled reliable reference outcomes instead of only covering the basic 4 blood types, enabling instant direct typing results.
Can the test show where I was exposed?
No. Blood levels cannot identify whether PFAS came from drinking water, food, work, or another source, nor when or for how long exposure happened. If there may be ongoing exposure, a history of your home water source, work, and other relevant circumstances can help guide practical next steps. Environmental information—such as water testing—is needed to investigate a suspected source; the blood result cannot substitute for it.
If drinking water or a private well is a concern
For possible drinking-water exposure, ATSDR advises using a tested alternative water source and consulting local health or environmental agencies about testing and retesting a private well. Filtration or an alternative source may be part of reducing ongoing exposure. A blood test does not show whether a particular filter is appropriate; verify that any product’s performance claims cover the PFAS of concern and are relevant to your water.

What should I ask my prenatal clinician?
Take the lab report and any information about possible exposures to your visit. Questions that can make the discussion more useful include:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Which PFAS did this laboratory measure, and does the report show individual compounds or a combined value?
- What prompted testing, and are there relevant environmental or occupational exposures to discuss?
- Is there a documented drinking-water or private-well concern that warrants environmental testing?
- Would this result change any care decision, and would extra screening offer a benefit?
- How will my usual prenatal care, including blood-pressure monitoring, continue?
ATSDR notes that applying proposed blood-level cutoffs could lead to screening different from current preventive-care guidelines. Because the clinical meaning of a one-time result and the benefit or timing of repeat testing are not established, ask what a repeat test would change before pursuing one.

- What is the EldonCard: You can learn your blood type in just a couple of minutes using the Eldon Blood Typing Kit. The EldonCard is used for ABO-and RHD blood grouping. The card is perfect for individuals to understand what their blood group is. The Blood Typing cards are accurate and can be used in the home and once completed the card can covered for future reference.
- Why do I need the EldonCard: Your blood type is inherited from your parents and determined by the presence or absence of certain antigens and antibodies. The EldonCard is made of a special type of plastic upon which dried antibody formulations are placed. The EldonCard is a reliable, durable, and a flexible point-of-care blood typing system.
- How EldonCard Works: The type of antigen you have tells us what your blood type is. While there are more than 20 blood-type systems, A, B, O and Rh (Rhesus) factor are by far the most important types. The blood is drawn by using a single-use safety lancet, which prevents accidental piercing by anyone picking up the lancet after it has been used.
- EldonCard Accuracy: The EldonCard is extremely accurate. It has been tested against the standard blood typing procedure using directly agglutinating antibodies. Tests have been performed at several laboratories in different countries and the results are in-line with laboratory-based tests.
- Where and Who can use it: EldonCard is used by hospitals, blood banks, blood centres, where it can be used for general blood typing and for bed side testing. Given the flexibility, durability and accuracy of the EldonCard, it can be used outside hospitals and clinic environments. Often it is used within practitioner clinics, humanitarian settings, remote locations, battlefields, classrooms, private homes, and in many emergency, situations calling for a speedy and reliable test.
