Mirae Asset’s comments on India and artificial intelligence come from different executives and interviews—not one settled claim that India has a proven AI advantage. In March 2025, Young Kim argued that India remained a long-term growth opportunity even as global investor attention tilted toward AI and technology stocks in the United States and China. In 2026, Swarup Mohanty discussed global flows toward AI-linked businesses and the perception that India has less AI exposure. Those are attributed investment views, not independent measurements of India’s AI position.
Which Mirae Asset executive is the headline about?
The title can point to more than one interview, so the people and roles should not be conflated:
- Young Kim: Business Standard identified him in March 2025 as President and Chief Global Officer of Mirae Asset Global Investments. He discussed India’s long-term investment case alongside investor interest in AI and technology stocks in the United States and China. Business Standard
- Swarup Mohanty: 2026 interviews identified him as Vice Chairman and CEO of Mirae Asset’s India investment-management business. He discussed global capital favoring AI-linked companies and perceptions that India is underexposed to AI. Moneycontrol and Financial Express
The remarks address related but distinct questions: Kim spoke about India’s long-term growth opportunity amid changing investor attention; Mohanty addressed how investors view India’s exposure to AI-linked businesses.

Kim’s March 2025 view was that India remained attractive to investors looking for a long growth horizon, despite the near-term pull of AI and technology stocks in the United States and China. He put it this way: “If you want exposure to a high-growth emerging market with a decade-long runway, India it is.” Business Standard

This is Kim’s investment opinion, not a verified forecast of returns or a guarantee that Indian equities will outperform. His comments also distinguish India’s broader growth thesis from the then-current excitement around AI: the two can matter to investors at once, but the interview does not establish that India was the leading AI market.
What does “India is underexposed to AI” mean?
In 2026 interviews, Mohanty described global flows toward businesses associated with AI and a perception that India offers comparatively less direct AI exposure. That is an account of how investors may allocate or view markets—not proof that India lacks AI companies, cannot adopt AI, or will miss out on its economic effects. Moneycontrol Financial Express

The distinction matters because a country can benefit from using AI across industries without its stock market offering the same concentration of publicly traded AI-linked businesses as another market. The interviews describe investor perceptions and flows; they do not supply an independent measure of India’s AI capabilities or a quantified comparison of national exposure.
What did Mirae Asset say about AI investing?
Kim called AI “a massive opportunity” that was “reshaping everything” in the 2025 interview. A separate 2024 interview cited the Mirae Asset Global X Artificial Intelligence and Technology ETF Fund of Funds as an example of the firm’s AI investment focus. Business Standard Value Research

The reference establishes that the fund was discussed as an AI-focused example at that time; it does not establish its current availability, holdings, costs, performance, benchmark, risk profile, or suitability for an individual investor. Those details should be checked in current official fund documents before making an investment decision.

The available interviews support a narrower conclusion than the headline’s phrase “India’s AI advantage” might suggest: Kim made a long-term growth case for India in 2025, while Mohanty described a 2026 investor perception that India has less direct AI exposure as capital gravitates toward AI-linked businesses. Neither claim independently proves an AI advantage or disadvantage. They are useful as a snapshot of Mirae Asset executives’ investment views at the dates of their interviews.
