For the Clamp Release Procedure, you can choose SO, ZE, RS, any combination of them, or none. For the 920CEG panel described in the guides, an individual button is accepted, and one guide reports no noticeable difference in the next encounter or ending cutscene across all eight combinations. That outcome is a guide’s test, not an official guarantee.
Where the light protection buttons appear
During the Clamp Release Procedure, look for the PROTECTION section on the Clamp Release panel. Its three buttons are SO, ZE, and RS. The guides associate them with Simon Ordell, Zoe Ellis, and Richard, respectively.
Which buttons should you select?
For the 920CEG procedure covered by Townfall Wiki, SO, ZE, or RS is an acceptable protection setting. The guide says the green Release button flashes when the configuration is correct. AltChar summarizes the panel’s instruction as setting light protection however you like and advises using discretion. In practical terms, you do not need a particular combination to complete this version of the puzzle.

Do the choices affect the encounter or ending?
ShowGamer reports trying each button alone, each pair, all three together, and no buttons. It observed no noticeable change to the following encounter or ending cutscene. Townfall Wiki describes this as a single-source test and says its own page has not confirmed the settings in-game, so treat the result as reported guidance—not proof that the choices have no effect in every route, version, or later event.

What about changing IDs in the preceding puzzle?
AltChar notes that some IDs in the preceding Remote Systems puzzle can vary between playthroughs and recommends using the player’s own document for those entries. That warning concerns the earlier puzzle; it does not establish that the light protection buttons vary.
