After India qualified for the Asian Games men’s cricket gold-medal match against Pakistan, Ishan Kishan said Pakistan were also a spinner-friendly team. He urged India to keep their approach simple, stay focused on the present and enjoy the pressure moments.
What did Ishan Kishan say about Pakistan?
Speaking to reporters after India’s semi-final win over Sri Lanka, Kishan described the conditions as challenging and said Pakistan were well suited to them. Hindustan Times reported his remarks on October 1, 2026:
“Just keeping it simple, you don’t think so much. We played today, and we know the conditions are not going to be so easy. Especially, they are also a spinner-friendly team.”

He added: “At the same time, you know, you just don’t think about what’s going to happen after two days. Why did he call Pakistan a spinner-friendly team?
Kishan was talking about the expected challenge of the final and the conditions, not predicting which team would win. His practical message was to avoid overthinking, play naturally and focus on the game in front of India.
How India and Pakistan reached the final
India beat Sri Lanka in the second semi-final, with Kishan scoring an unbeaten 80. Channel News Asia, citing Reuters, reported that he made 80 from 46 balls. Pakistan reached the final by defeating Bangladesh in the other semi-final. These results set up the gold-medal match between India and Pakistan, as reported by Channel News Asia and Hindustan Times.
