Into the Wind is an upcoming open-world delivery adventure from Bloom & Gloom Games, published by Three Friends. Press comparisons describe its visual tone as Ghibli-like and its cargo-delivery gameplay as reminiscent of Death Stranding—two separate comparisons, not official connections. You take over your missing uncle’s delivery service across the islands of Santa Rosa while trying to learn what happened to him.

What is Into the Wind?

Into the Wind is an open-world action adventure built around delivering cargo, exploring islands and investigating a disappearance. The player inherits an uncle’s delivery service after he vanishes; he was last seen entering a strange cloud. Taking jobs around Santa Rosa brings the player into contact with its residents as the search for the uncle continues.

The game is being developed by Bloom & Gloom Games, whose inaugural game it is, and published by Three Friends, according to PC Gamer’s June 7, 2026 report.

Why is it compared to Studio Ghibli and Death Stranding?

The comparisons describe different aspects of the game. GamesRadar characterizes its look and atmosphere as Ghibli-like, invoking Kiki’s Delivery Service as a tonal analogy. The GamesRadar report does not establish that Studio Ghibli made, licensed, endorsed or officially inspired the game.

PC Gamer compares the delivery portions to Death Stranding, while describing Into the Wind as appearing less simulation-heavy. That is a journalist’s comparison of the gameplay loop, not evidence of a shared creative team or confirmed influence. The useful shorthand is: Ghibli-like atmosphere, Death Stranding-like cargo delivery.

How do deliveries work?

Deliveries involve balancing cargo, vehicle handling, route risk and potential reward. GamesRadar reports that cargo types affect both driving and flying, with heavier loads making flight more difficult. Jobs can include unusual or dangerous items, such as a live swordfish or a mine.

Choose a route around cargo and threats

Pirates threaten some routes. A heavily loaded player may need to take a longer path to avoid them, while a lighter load can leave room for aerial combat. The delivery is therefore not simply a matter of reaching a marker: what you carry can shape how you travel and whether you can afford to engage threats.

Use rewards to develop your equipment

Completing jobs can earn money and create opportunities to find parts for Ermes, a motorcycle-plane, or for the player’s base. GamesRadar attributes this description to Robin from Bloom & Gloom Games during a gameplay demo: “different types of cargo affect driving and flying in different ways, and more challenging deliveries mean more pay for your efforts.” The report gives no further name or role for Robin.

How to judge whether it suits you

If you are deciding whether to follow Into the Wind, the most revealing questions are how much cargo weight changes movement and vehicle handling, how much play is spent planning deliveries versus fighting, whether exploration and upgrades stay tied to the delivery system, and whether its atmosphere appeals to you. The published descriptions establish those as relevant features, but do not yet answer how they feel over a full playthrough.
