Flagship is a Black Ops 7 multiplayer map for both 6v6 and 2v2. Its arena sits beneath an aircraft carrier undergoing repairs, with combat routes under the hull, an ascender leading to the gantry, and a surrounding worksite. The official map page describes those features, but does not establish a best route or competitive ranking.
What is the Flagship map layout?
Flagship’s defining landmark is a gigantic aircraft carrier docked for repairs. The official description identifies three areas or traversal features to keep in mind:
- Under the hull: an enclosed combat area beneath the carrier.
- The gantry: an elevated route reachable by ascender.
- The worksite: the repair area surrounding the ship.
These details come from the official Black Ops 7 multiplayer map page. They help orient players to the documented layout, but do not by themselves show which route is safest, fastest, or strongest in a particular match.

Is Flagship 6v6 or 2v2?
Both. The official map listing includes Flagship for 6v6 and 2v2. Which modes are available for the map can depend on the game’s current playlists; check the in-game playlist or live map listing rather than assuming every mode uses every map.

How did the Black Ops 7 map pool change after launch?
The launch roster and the later map pool are different snapshots. Activision’s November 4, 2025 launch announcement said 16 6v6 maps and two larger Skirmish maps would be available at launch. Nuketown 2025 was set to join during preseason on November 20. The announcement’s total of 19 maps before Season 01 includes that preseason addition, so it is not a launch-day count.
Season 03 later added another example of how the pool expanded: Beacon and Abyss were listed as new maps, Plaza and Gridlock as remasters, and Mission: Trident as a Skirmish map. Onsen, Summit, and Hacienda were named for the mid-season update. The live map page lists additional maps, including returning or remastered Meltdown, Standoff, Summit, and Nuketown 2025. Because seasonal content changes, use that current listing for the latest roster rather than an older launch article. How can you read a map description before choosing a playlist?
Official descriptions can help you anticipate the kind of traversal and sightlines a map presents. Compare what they actually state—supported player formats, size when provided, route geometry, elevation, and sightlines—instead of treating descriptive copy as proof of map balance or weapon suitability.

The layout cues for Abyss and Beacon come from the current official map descriptions; Season 03’s announcement provides additional map details. These descriptions can orient you to features such as confined corridors or long views, but the sources do not establish which map is easiest, most balanced, or best for a particular weapon or competitive role.

What modes and physical editions are relevant?
Modes
Activision’s launch announcement lists modes including Overload, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Kill Confirmed, Free-For-All, Hardpoint, Kill Order, and Control. It describes Skirmish as a two-team objective mode with 20 players per team. This is mode context, not a guarantee that each mode is currently playable on Flagship; check the live playlist for map-mode availability.
Physical game editions
If you are also choosing a physical copy, Activision Support confirms console editions with different compatibility. A PS5 physical edition works on PS5 only; an Xbox cross-gen physical bundle covers Xbox Series X and Xbox One; and a PS4 cross-gen physical bundle includes a PS5 digital code, but the disc is required to play the PS5 version. Physical editions do not work on Xbox Series S or a digital-only PS5.
