Black Tides: Draga’s Wake is an in-development third-person action horror-adventure from Strange Creature Factory Ltd. It follows Draga Bolivar, a sailor stranded aboard the icebound whaling ship Ormora after a heist goes wrong. He must find his scattered crew and escape as a doomsday cult and an ancient cosmic force transform the ship—and threaten to corrupt Draga himself.
What is Black Tides: Draga’s Wake?
It is a story-driven horror game built around a hostile ship, close-quarters action, and an unfolding mystery. The Steam synopsis describes brawler combat and the struggle to regroup the crew while investigating what is awakening in the ship’s hull. The developer describes the game as a realistic third-person action horror. These are the project’s stated aims, not a report on finished gameplay.
The game is being developed by Strange Creature Factory Ltd. In its first official trailer announcement, the studio said the game had reached 10,000 wishlists. That is a studio-reported milestone, not an independently verified count (Strange Creature Factory’s Steam community post).
Who is Draga, and what happens to him?
Draga Bolivar is described by the developer as a hardened sailor and first mate with a murky past. A heist goes wrong, leaving him aboard the Ormora. His immediate goals are practical: find his scattered crew and get off the ship alive.

Escape is complicated by the force that has taken hold of the vessel. The cult and cosmic threat are changing the crew, cultists, and ship into monstrous forms, and the corruption is also taking root in Draga. The premise therefore makes his survival personal as well as physical: he must contend with what the ship is doing to him while trying to rescue others.
Where is the game set?
The Ormora is a colossal steamship in an alternate 1900s. Creative director Greg J. Strangis describes it more specifically as an icebound whaling ship overrun by a doomsday cult. The isolated maritime setting puts the crew inside a confined environment where the vessel itself is part of the horror.

The studio has cited The Thing and Leviathan as body-horror touchstones. Strangis says the team treats creature and character design as a storytelling medium rather than spectacle alone. Those references describe the studio’s creative intent; they do not establish that the game adapts either work or shares its world.

The official Steam community post calls its October 2 announcement the “Official First Trailer Release!” The developer’s accompanying description establishes the broad premise: Draga is stranded after a heist, the cult and cosmic force are transforming the ship and its inhabitants, and Draga is at risk of being changed too. The game is presented as a realistic third-person action horror.
That promotional description supports the story and genre details above, but it is not a shot-by-shot account of the video. Specific enemies, combat moves, dialogue, or visual scenes should not be treated as confirmed here. The studio’s quoted description of the setting is: “Set aboard the Ormora, an icebound whaling ship overrun by a doomsday cult, Draga’s Wake is brutal, atmospheric, and strange.” (Official Steam community post)

Strange Creature Factory says the game is in active development. The studio has described preparing an updated demo for discussions with publishers and seeking funding and publishing opportunities. This indicates that it is looking for support; it does not confirm a signed publishing deal (Strange Creature Factory Ltd on LinkedIn).
