An XRP treasury company holds XRP on its balance sheet as a corporate reserve. It can benefit if XRP appreciates and it sells at a gain, and it may pursue additional income through active strategies such as lending or liquidity provision. Those strategies are not guaranteed, and announced plans are not proof of realized earnings. Money raised by selling stock or borrowing is financing—not profit.
How an XRP treasury company makes money
The basic model combines exposure to XRP’s price with decisions about how the company funds and manages its holdings. To assess its finances, separate investment gains, any income from treasury activity, and the company’s underlying business results.
1. It builds an XRP reserve
A company can use available cash to buy XRP, or raise money through equity or debt financing and use some proceeds for purchases. Wellgistics Health’s SEC-filed registration statement describes using cash flows beyond working-capital needs and potentially raising capital to purchase XRP. It also says the company may sell XRP for general corporate purposes and consider income-generating strategies. These are disclosed plans, not evidence that every activity has occurred. If XRP rises, the marked value of the company’s holdings increases. A gain from a sale is realized only if the sale price exceeds the relevant cost basis. 3. It may pursue yield through active management
Holding XRP by itself does not automatically generate interest. A company seeking income might lend assets, provide liquidity, or use decentralized-finance (DeFi) opportunities—but each involves separate activity, execution risks, and potentially counterparty or regulatory exposure. Evernorth’s October 2025 announcement described these as planned institutional lending, liquidity-provision, and DeFi strategies, alongside a goal of growing XRP per share. Its August 2026 SEC-filed update continued to describe intended treasury deployment and XRP infrastructure while the proposed merger remained conditional. 4. It can raise additional capital
Selling shares or issuing debt can provide funds to buy XRP, but the proceeds are financing rather than operating income. Equity issuance can dilute existing shareholders; borrowing creates repayment obligations. Evernorth’s announcement described expected gross proceeds of more than $1 billion, including $200 million from SBI, primarily for XRP purchases, with some proceeds intended for working capital and transaction costs. Does it earn yield, or only profit if XRP goes up?
It can potentially do either, but they are distinct sources of return. A company can record a gain when it sells XRP above its relevant cost basis; active lending or liquidity strategies could produce separate income if successfully executed. It can also lose value if XRP declines or an income strategy performs poorly. Capital raised from investors or lenders is neither yield nor profit.

The reviewed company materials describe intended income strategies, but do not provide a verified realized yield figure or comparable profitability statistic for the examples. Treat management’s strategy descriptions as plans unless financial results establish that income was actually earned.

How an XRP treasury company differs from an XRP ETF or trust
A treasury company is a corporation that owns XRP as an asset; its shares represent an interest in the company, not a direct claim to a stated amount of XRP. Company operating costs, financing, management decisions, any non-XRP business, and treasury execution can all affect its results.
An XRP ETF or trust is a fund structure designed to hold XRP and track its value after expenses and liabilities. Grayscale describes its XRP Trust ETF as a passive vehicle with that objective. Bitwise’s 2026 Form 10-K states a 0.34% annual sponsor fee; that fee is paid to the fund sponsor and is not a typical income source for a corporate treasury company. Do not confuse an XRP treasury with Ripple’s treasury software
Ripple’s acquisition announcement about GTreasury concerns treasury-management software and services for corporate finance teams. That is a vendor business, not a company making money by holding XRP in a corporate reserve. Ripple GTreasury announcement
What an XRP Ledger financial product does—and does not—show
In June 2025, Ripple reported that Guggenheim Treasury Services’ digital commercial paper was tokenized, issued, and managed through Zeconomy on the XRP Ledger. Ripple said the paper was secured by U.S. Treasuries and rated Prime-1 by Moody’s. What to check before evaluating one
A company’s XRP strategy is only one part of its financial picture. Review its latest filings and distinguish the following:
- XRP held per share: Check reported holdings alongside the share count and any expected dilution; a larger reserve does not necessarily mean more XRP exposure per share.
- Financing and obligations: Look at equity issuance, debt, use of proceeds, and whether announced financing has closed.
- Operating results and costs: Separate revenue and expenses from the company’s underlying business, changes in XRP valuation, and any realized sale gains.
- Yield strategy evidence: Look for income actually reported in financial statements rather than plans or targets in announcements.
- Custody, counterparties, and liquidity: Review how assets are held, what arrangements support lending or liquidity activity, and whether the shares and underlying holdings can be transacted as needed.
- Execution and regulation: Consider whether planned activities have begun and how volatility, regulatory scrutiny, or changing strategy could affect them.
For Evernorth specifically, its August 2026 communication said a shareholder vote and other closing conditions still stood between the proposed business combination and an expected public listing.
