A Huawei foldable phone is a Huawei smartphone with a flexible display that folds, so the device can be used in more than one screen configuration. A closed book-style model can show a small cover screen, and opening it reveals a larger main screen. A tri-fold model adds a third panel and can be used as a single, dual, or triple screen. “Huawei foldable phone” is a category name, not one model. Huawei’s current product specifications show two different forms within it: the Mate X6 and the Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN.
What the folding display changes
The defining feature is not simply a bendable screen. It is the change in usable screen space. A folding phone has at least two states: folded, where the device works like a narrower handset, and unfolded, where it offers a wider display for multitasking, reading, or video. Each state has its own screen size, so any specification has to say which state it describes.
The two forms Huawei uses
Book-style: HUAWEI Mate X6
The Mate X6 folds like a book. Its main display sits inside the fold, and a separate cover display is used while the phone is closed. Huawei’s Qatar product specification page for the Mate X6 lists a 7.93-inch main OLED screen and a 6.45-inch cover OLED screen, both with adaptive 1–120 Hz LTPO refresh rates. For the configuration shown on that page, it lists EMUI 15.0, 12 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of storage. These figures are manufacturer-published specifications, not independent test results, and they describe that specific configuration rather than every Mate X6 sold.

The Mate XT ULTIMATE DESIGN uses a tri-fold layout with three display configurations. Huawei’s global product specification page lists 6.4 inches in single-screen form, 7.9 inches in dual-screen form, and 10.2 inches in triple-screen form. This is a different use case from the Mate X6: the device is defined by how many panels are in use at a given moment. The same page establishes the three configurations but does not establish local availability in any particular country.

The table compares only what Huawei’s cited product pages state. Where a page does not give a value, the cell says so.

How to read a foldable specification sheet
- Name the screen state. A figure such as 7.93 inches applies to the open main display, not the closed phone. Always check whether a number describes folded, unfolded, or a specific multi-panel configuration.
- Treat specifications as variant-specific. Huawei’s Qatar Mate X6 page states that actual specifications may vary and that charger and cable contents depend on market. A regional box may differ from the one described.
- Separate manufacturer claims from measured results. Battery ratings, charging speeds, and IP ratings on Huawei’s pages are manufacturer statements. The pages do not present them as results from an independent reviewer.
- Check the software and accessory list for your own market. The Mate X6 Qatar page lists EMUI 15.0 and a rotating-stand PU case in its box contents. Other markets may list different software versions or accessories.
Water resistance is conditional
The Mate X6 Qatar page gives an IPX8 rating and describes the controlled laboratory conditions behind it. The same page warns that water resistance may decrease over time and states that water damage is not covered by warranty. An IP rating therefore describes what the phone was tested to withstand under set conditions. It is not a promise of protection in everyday use, and a foldable’s hinge and seals should be treated as wear items over the life of the device.

Charging and what comes in the box
Huawei lists wired charging of up to 66 W and wireless charging of up to 50 W for the Mate X6, with the conditions described on the product page. Those speeds require the Huawei chargers named in that page’s conditions. A generic charger may charge the phone more slowly or not at all at the stated rate, so the charging claim should be read together with the required equipment. Box contents vary by market, so do not assume that a charger, cable, or case is included in every region.
Checks before buying a Huawei foldable
- Identify the exact model name and, if possible, the regional SKU printed on the box or in the seller’s listing.
- Confirm which screen sizes apply to the state you will use most, using the official specification page for that model.
- Check the included charger, cable, and case for your market before assuming they are part of the package.
- Confirm the warranty terms and whether the water resistance rating is covered, since the Mate X6 Qatar page excludes water damage from warranty.
- Verify any accessory, such as a case or charger, for compatibility with the exact model before purchase.
The safest way to describe any Huawei foldable is to name the form, the screen state, and the market. “Huawei foldable phone” alone is only the category.
