HH Global announced a Japanese retail-kiosk solution with Densan System Co., Ltd. on January 14, 2018. The company described the kiosks as powered by Chrome OS and Chrome Enterprise, combining shopper-facing marketing and sales functions with tools for store employees. The announcement documents a 2018 launch, not current availability or the status of deployments today.
What the Japanese Chrome kiosk solution was
HH Global presented the project as a business-to-business digital kiosk solution for Japanese retailers. Its announcement said the solution had been fully introduced to the market at that time. It named Densan System Co., Ltd. as its partner and identified Chrome OS and Chrome Enterprise as the platform behind the kiosks. The release did not name the hardware make or model.
The solution was intended to bring point-of-sale technology together with in-store communications. HH Global described functions for both shoppers and employees, but did not report measured results from the rollout.

What shoppers could use the kiosks for
- Personalized marketing: displaying marketing messages tailored to shoppers.
- Sales-kiosk functionality: providing a customer-facing way to support sales in the store.
- Interactive content and current information: presenting cloud-hosted content and up-to-date information for shoppers.
These are capabilities described in HH Global’s announcement, not independently verified outcomes or evidence of a particular increase in sales or customer engagement.

How the kiosks were intended to help employees
HH Global also described employee access to operational information and resources through the kiosks. The stated uses included:
- On-demand training.
- Detailed product information.
- Current inventory levels.
- Operational processes.
The announcement did not specify how employees accessed these functions, what store systems the kiosks connected to, or how the content was administered.

Which companies were involved
HH Global named Densan System Co., Ltd. as its partner in the Japanese retail solution. The release also said Densan had conducted Chrome OS product proof-of-concept work alongside TOEI Transportation and Metro Ad Agency. It did not identify either organization as a customer of HH Global’s newly announced retail solution.

What is known—and not known—about the rollout
The January 14, 2018 announcement does not give a number of participating stores or installed devices, adoption figures, or measured sales impact. It also does not identify the kiosk hardware, establish current availability, or confirm whether the solution remains deployed.

Google’s 2017 discussion of Chrome devices provides general context: it described digital signage and kiosk devices running single-use apps for business employees and customers. For organizations evaluating a kiosk project now, useful criteria include managed-kiosk capability, display requirements, content administration, and whether the primary users are shoppers or employees. Those are general evaluation considerations, not specifications confirmed for HH Global’s installation.

What HH Global’s executives said
The press release quoted Paul Jones, identified as HH Global’s Japan Country Manager, saying: “With cloud technology and Chrome OS, that is all about to change.”
It also quoted Andrew Price, identified as HH Global’s APAC CEO, saying: “We saw a steep drop in display prices, flexible and affordable cloud-based content, and sophisticated management tools, all available on a Chrome OS device platform.” These are company executives’ statements; the release provided no comparative figures to quantify the claimed drop in display prices.
