When an Overwatch season ends, its featured Mythic hero skin leaves the Mythic Shop and is unavailable for the next two seasons. Blizzard says it returns for another chance to unlock it in the third season after its debut. If you already unlocked the skin’s base level, you can still unlock its customization levels while it is out of the shop.
When does a Mythic skin come back to the shop?
Blizzard’s Mythic Shop FAQ says a featured Mythic hero skin is available for the length of its season, then cycles out of the shop for the following two seasons. That means the next opportunity to unlock it is in the third season after its debut. This is a shop rotation, not a claim that the skin is permanently lost.
Blizzard introduced this seasonal availability approach with the Mythic Shop changes for Season 10. Its developer update explained that seasonal Mythic skins would become available again two seasons after their debut; the FAQ clarifies that the featured skin is absent during those two seasons.

It depends on whether you unlocked the base level before the featured season ended:

This distinction comes from Blizzard’s FAQ: continued progression applies to a skin whose base level you already own. The stated rule does not provide the same immediate access to customization for someone who missed the base-level unlock.
What do Mythic Prisms pay for?
Mythic Prisms are the Mythic Shop currency used to unlock Mythic cosmetics and their customizations. Costs and tier structures can vary as the system changes, so check the current shop for the specific item rather than assuming an older price still applies.
For historical context, Blizzard’s Season 10 announcement described a skin base level costing 50 Prisms and three additional levels costing 10 Prisms each, or 80 Prisms total. At that time, completing the Season 10 Premium Battle Pass provided 80 Prisms. Those figures describe that season’s offering; they are not a guarantee of current pricing or of every Mythic’s tier configuration.

Why should you check the current Mythic Shop?
Mythic customization and item types have evolved since the shop launched. Blizzard’s Season 19 update said Tier 1 would grant the complete Mythic skin design, with later tiers adding alternate components, colors, and ambient effects. Its Season 17 announcement also described a Mythic hero skin and a Mythic weapon skin becoming available at launch.

Blizzard’s 2026 Overwatch Spotlight said the year’s seasons would bring two new Mythic hero skins per season. That roadmap does not establish whether a particular older skin is in the shop now or give an item-by-item return calendar. For a specific Mythic, check its listing in the live Mythic Shop and the current season announcement.
