They get one point each. In the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League league phase, a draw does not by itself decide qualification or relegation; those outcomes depend on the final Group A3 standings and the other results.
What a draw changes in the standings
UEFA awards three points for a win, one for a draw and none for a defeat under Article 14.01 of the 2026/27 regulations. A league-phase draw therefore adds one point to England’s total and one to Croatia’s. The scoreline also counts toward each team’s goals scored and goal difference.
England and Croatia are in League A Group A3 with Spain and Czechia. Each team plays the other three sides home and away, so the meaning of one result depends on the full set of group results and the standings at the end of the league phase, not just this match.

What the final Group A3 positions mean
- First or second: Qualifies for the League A quarter-finals.
- Third: Enters a promotion/relegation play-off.
- Fourth: Is automatically relegated to League B.
Those are final-position consequences, not automatic effects of a draw. Without the relevant match date, stage and complete table, it is not possible to say that a draw would qualify either side, eliminate either side, or send either side down. UEFA schedules the 2026/27 League A quarter-finals for March 2027 and the Finals for June 2027; dates may change in later editions.

How UEFA breaks a points tie
If teams finish the league phase level on points, UEFA applies the 2026/27 group tie-break criteria in this order:
- Points gained in matches between the tied teams.
- Goal difference in those matches.
- Goals scored in those matches.
- If some teams remain tied, repeat those three criteria using only the matches between the remaining tied teams.
- Overall group goal difference.
- Overall group goals scored.
- Overall away goals scored.
- Overall wins.
- Overall away wins.
- Disciplinary points.
- Position in the 2026/27 Nations League access list.
Consequently, overall goal difference is not the first tie-break: points in matches among the tied teams come first. UEFA’s complete criteria are set out in Article 15 of the regulations.
