In a roundup published October 2, 2026, Kotaku’s Zack Zwiezen described a concentrated burst of GTA VI publicity spanning a magazine cover story, promotional merchandise and a sports-team event. The items differ in how firmly they are established: some are quoted announcements, while others are reports relayed by Kotaku.

What did the writers say about Jason and Lucia?
Love Magazine shared new GTA 6 images and comments from game writers Elizabeth Gauvey-Kern and Alexa D’Agostino ahead of an issue featuring Jason and Lucia on the cover, according to Kotaku’s October 2 roundup.

Gauvey-Kern said, “We wanted both protagonists to be vulnerable, tough, flawed, right sometimes, wrong sometimes, able to learn from each other.” D’Agostino said, “When you are focusing on writing a fully realised person with their own wants, you’re going to get something perfectly imperfect—with clichés, but also undeniably real.” Their comments describe an aim to make both leads complicated, imperfect people rather than uniformly heroic protagonists.

What was the Brooklyn mural sighting?
Kotaku reported that a mural featuring Jason and Lucia was being painted in Brooklyn. The sighting was attributed to an October 1 social post credited to Complex Pop Culture, which in turn credited a Reddit user. That makes it a reported sighting, not confirmation that Rockstar commissioned or installed the mural.
What is the Miami Heat Vice City night?
The Miami Heat announced “A Night in Vice City” for November 18, 2026, in a post quoted by Kotaku. The team’s wording was: “Bright lights. Vice City. A Night in Vice City tips off November 18.” Kotaku reported that the event would feature a GTA 6-inspired court, Vice City uniforms and themed merchandise. The event date is as stated in the October 2 report; that coverage does not establish whether tickets or merchandise are currently available.

What did the Game Informer cover story report?
Rockstar announced on September 29 that the GTA VI cover story was free in the Game Informer app, with a print subscription offered, according to Kotaku. Kotaku’s account says the feature included new screenshots and discussed more than 150 animal species, hurricanes, tropical storms and legendary creatures.
The animal figure and feature details are attributed to Game Informer through Kotaku’s roundup; they are not independently confirmed here. Kotaku also said a Disney World parody was not expected, but its roundup excerpt does not provide the underlying original-source detail for that point.

What promotional items were mentioned?
Zwiezen said Rockstar mailed him promotional goods, including a pink canvas bag and stickers, and reported that creators received similar packages. Kotaku also mentioned Miami Heat merchandise associated with the Vice City promotion. These reports show promotional activity; they do not establish that the items are generally available for purchase.
