Saft Power Systems did not disappear when its industrial power activities took the AEG Power Solutions name. On November 4, 2008, the company announced that Saft Power Systems and AEG Power Supply Systems would be consolidated under one worldwide brand, with the transition due to finish by the end of that year. AEG Power Solutions was acquired by Hammond Power Solutions in 2026.
When did Saft Power Systems become AEG Power Solutions?
The announcement came on November 4, 2008. Saft Power Systems said it would bring its own industrial power activities and those of AEG Power Supply Systems together under the single worldwide name AEG Power Solutions, targeting completion by the end of 2008. The brands had already been connected for a decade: Saft Power Systems acquired Germany’s AEG SVS Power Supply Systems GmbH in 1998. Following Ripplewood Holdings’ acquisition of the AEG/Saft Power Systems/Harmer & Simmons activities in 2005, management began a consolidation and globalization program. In the UK, Companies House records SAFT POWER SYSTEMS LIMITED as a previous name of AEG POWER SOLUTIONS LTD from March 8, 2001, to October 15, 2008, and lists the latter company as active. Which products and activities moved under the AEG name?
The 2008 consolidation covered an industrial portfolio that included high-reliability uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems, industrial chargers, DC systems, power controllers and solar inverters. AEG Power Solutions later described its business as supplying AC and DC UPS systems, battery chargers, rectifier systems and switch-mode power supplies. Hammond Power Solutions (HPS) announced a planned acquisition of AEG Power Solutions on February 17, 2026, and completed the deal on June 29, 2026. HPS said AEG Power Solutions had more than 780 professionals, five manufacturing facilities and approximately C$326 million in revenue in 2025. Those figures describe the business cited in HPS’s 2026 announcement; they are not a statement of current standalone results. What the change means for existing industrial systems
The history points to successive changes in brand and ownership: the 2008 move placed the former Saft Power Systems and AEG Power Supply Systems activities under the AEG Power Solutions name, and the 2026 acquisition brought AEG Power Solutions into HPS. For organizations operating installed UPS, charger, rectifier or control systems, the relevant practical question is support for the specific equipment and site—not whether the old Saft name remains on a product.
