GHunt is a modular open-source intelligence tool for investigating Google accounts and related objects. Its documentation describes email, document, YouTube, and Gaia modules, but the results are conditional: some depend on public information, account settings, or prior activity. GHunt does not make private account data automatically visible.
What can GHunt find?
The GHunt project README describes the tool as “a modulable OSINT tool designed to evolve over the years, and incorporates many techniques to investigate Google accounts, or objects.” It lists four modules. The fields below are possible documented outputs, not guaranteed results for every target.
| Module | Input or object | Documented possible results |
|---|---|---|
| A Google-associated email address | Owner name, Gaia ID, last profile-edit time, profile picture and whether it is custom, Hangouts bot status, activated Google services, possible YouTube channel, possible other usernames, and—when the relevant information is public—Maps reviews, possible location, and Calendar events. | |
| Document | A Google document URL | Owner name and Gaia ID, profile picture and whether it is custom, creation date, last-edit time, public permissions, and the investigator’s permissions. |
| YouTube | An email address associated with a YouTube account | A Gaia ID via the Wayback Machine, whether the email is visible, country, description, total views, join date, primary social links, and information from the Gaia module. |
| Gaia | A Google account’s Gaia profile | Profile name and picture, possible YouTube channel and usernames, public Maps reviews, and possible location. |
These capabilities are listed in the GHunt project README. The tool’s OSINT label should not be read as a promise of access to private information.
Why results depend on visibility and account history
The README marks some features with conditions. In particular, it says features marked “P” require either a default Google AlbumArchive setting that allows people with whom content is shared to download photos and videos, or prior Picasa use linked to the account. Features marked “M” require public Google Maps reviews. Features marked “C” require a public Google Calendar; the README describes Calendar as closed by default.
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
That makes the target’s exposure—not simply the module choice—a key limit. A module can list a field without being able to return it for a particular account. The README also crosses out some photo- and device-related fields; those should not be treated as current documented capabilities.
How to choose a GHunt module
- Start with an email: use the email module when the identifier you have is an address and you want to check the account-associated details the README lists.
- Start with a document URL: use the document module when the object of interest is a Google document, including its listed ownership and permission information.
- Start with YouTube: use the YouTube module when the question concerns an email-associated YouTube account and its listed channel details.
- Start with Gaia: use the Gaia module for the profile-oriented results documented for a Google account.
These are input-based distinctions, not claims that one module is more accurate or effective than another. The documented outputs and their visibility conditions are described in the project README.

What the documented setup workflow involves
GHunt’s README describes a workflow that uses browser cookies to generate authentication and Google Docs/Hangouts tokens. It documents an automated browser-extension route and manual cookie extraction. Cookies are sensitive credentials: handle them as carefully as account login material, and do not share or expose them.
- Check the current instructions first. The README is on GitHub’s mutable
masterbranch, and the available documentation does not establish a current maintained release number. Confirm that the project’s live instructions match the version you intend to use. - Follow the documented cookie setup method. The README describes automated browser-extension and manual extraction options. Use the current project documentation for the exact steps rather than relying on an old command or browser-specific assumption.
- Run the token-generation check. The documented command is
python3 check_and_gen.py, which validates cookies and generates authentication and Google Docs/Hangouts tokens. - Run the module for the object you have. The README gives examples such as
python3 ghunt.py email ...for an email and a document URL for a document lookup. Exact syntax and compatibility should be checked against the current README.
The project warns that logging back into the Google account used for the cookies may deauthorize them, depending on browser and location. It suggests using an empty account or one not otherwise used for login. This is a documented operational caveat, not a security guarantee; see the README’s cookie setup guidance.

The project documentation does not determine whether a particular investigation is lawful or permitted under Google’s terms. That depends on the facts, the data involved, the investigator’s authority, and the applicable jurisdiction. Do not treat technical availability as permission to investigate an account or use someone else’s credentials.
