David Grusch told Joe Rogan he had heard secondhand accounts of a crashed craft, reptilian beings described as more than seven feet tall, and U.S. personnel shooting them after personnel were hurt and killed. Grusch said he had never seen the beings himself and did not know the exact number of U.S. deaths. The interview documents that he made the allegation; it does not independently establish that the crash or firefight happened.
What Grusch said on Joe Rogan’s podcast
The account came up in The Joe Rogan Experience episode #2560, an interview with David Grusch. In the exchange around 1:19–1:20, Rogan asked what a friend had described. Grusch said, “I’ve never seen them personally,” then characterized the reported beings as “almost like seven foot tall plus,” gorilla-like, and scaly. He reiterated that he had not seen them in person. The episode transcript records the exchange and its timing.
His description of the beings
The height and physical description were presented as details from an account Grusch said he had heard, not as measurements or firsthand observations. The transcript records him describing beings more than seven feet tall, with gorilla-like builds and scaly skin.

What he said about the shooting
Later, around 2:11–2:14, Rogan asked what happened to the living reptilians. Grusch said they were killed and confirmed they were shot. He said they had posed a threat after U.S. personnel were hurt and killed. Asked how many U.S. personnel died, he replied that he did not know the exact numbers. The transcript does not provide a casualty total.

What is known—and what is not
The public record establishes that Grusch made these statements in the interview. It does not provide independent public confirmation of the alleged craft, its occupants, a firefight, or deaths. Contemporary reports by Dexerto and IBTimes UK likewise describe the story as unverified and note its secondhand nature; those reports document coverage of the claim, not independent corroboration.

The U.S. All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) published its Historical Record Report, Volume I in 2024. AARO said it found no evidence that a U.S. government investigation, academic-sponsored research, or official review panel had confirmed a UAP sighting as extraterrestrial technology. It also reported finding no empirical evidence for claims that the U.S. government or private companies had reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology. The report is available through GovInfo.
Those are broad historical findings, not a specific investigation of the anecdote Grusch discussed in 2026. They do not directly disprove this particular alleged firefight, just as the interview itself does not verify it.

How to assess the allegation
- Source of the account: Grusch said he was relaying what others told him, not describing something he witnessed.
- Public evidence: The transcript supports what he said; the sources cited here do not independently verify the alleged event.
- Official context: AARO’s 2024 report gives broad conclusions about past UAP investigations and technology-recovery claims, but does not address this anecdote specifically.
