There is no verified evidence in the available sources that BULKHEAD is holding back specific WARDOGS features because of Xbox Series S. What the studio has said publicly is that performance was a priority from early development, with a stated goal of 60 FPS on low-spec hardware and separate graphics options for lower- and higher-end PCs. Those statements describe targets and PC settings, not proof of a Series S-driven feature cut.
What the claim gets right—and what it does not establish
The headline’s wording combines two ideas: that WARDOGS features are being held back because of Xbox Series S, and that supporting very low-end hardware has benefits. The available primary statements support the second idea in a limited sense: BULKHEAD says it planned for performance early and set a 60 FPS goal for low-spec hardware. They do not identify a WARDOGS feature withheld because of Series S or connect a specific design decision to that console.
That distinction matters. A studio’s performance target, the graphics options offered on PC, a game’s console optimization status, and a measured result are different kinds of evidence. None alone establishes that one console caused a feature to be removed or restricted.

What BULKHEAD has said about WARDOGS performance
In its developer-published performance video, BULKHEAD says performance goals were part of development from the beginning rather than a final-stage task. The studio says it has been trying to reach 60 FPS on low-spec hardware and describes its standard as: “60 FPS is minimum for us.” These are the developer’s stated goals, not independent measurements confirming the game achieves that frame rate on every low-spec system.

PC graphics tiers are not console feature parity
The same video describes Potato Mode for lower-end systems and an Overkill preset intended for high-end PCs. BULKHEAD said Overkill would be limited to 40-series graphics cards and above at launch. That is a launch-specific statement from the video; it should not be read as a guarantee about current settings or requirements. More importantly, a PC preset restricted by graphics capability is not evidence that a console feature was cut to accommodate Series S.
What the Xbox listing confirms
Microsoft’s official WARDOGS store listing identifies BULKHEAD as the developer, Team17 Digital Ltd as the publisher, and the game as optimized for Xbox Series X|S. “Optimized for” confirms its listed platform status; the page does not say that Series S has forced the studio to hold back any particular feature.

Why Series S can be a development trade-off without proving this claim
Developing for a lower-powered console alongside more capable hardware can require engineering and optimization work. In interviews about the broader issue, TechRadar spoke with developers about the challenge of meeting platform requirements, the value of planning for the least powerful target early, and the consumer benefit of broader access. Those comments provide context for the industry debate, but they are not statements about WARDOGS or evidence of a WARDOGS-specific Series S bottleneck.

What would verify a Series S feature restriction
A substantiated claim would need an attributable developer statement naming the affected feature and explicitly linking its restriction or omission to Series S, or reliable technical documentation that demonstrates the causal connection. The sources cited here do not provide that evidence.
A Steam community post summarizes a separate WARDOGS interview as saying the team can reach a 2 km player or vehicle render distance but is holding back. It is a secondary community summary, not a primary transcript, and it does not establish that Series S is the reason. It should not be treated as confirmation of the headline’s causal claim: Steam community discussion.
