A September 29, 2026, article by PVS-Studio developer Kirill Epifanov reports six findings in Create mod revision 87b3c6a, with in-game checks for selected cases. They range from a coordinate-pasting error to code paths that appear ineffective or potentially unsafe. They are not all confirmed gameplay bugs, and the author’s mechanical-crafter experiment did not establish a complete fix. The findings describe that specific revision—not a verified audit of every current Create release. Read the PVS-Studio article.
What did the article examine?
Epifanov used PVS-Studio static analysis on Create revision 87b3c6a, then describes debugger or Minecraft checks for selected findings. The source is a PVS-Studio article written by a developer of the analyzer, so its testing claims should be attributed to the author; they are not independent replications.
The article gives Create’s CurseForge total as more than 206 million downloads at publication, excluding Modrinth. That is a dated figure, not a current download count. Epifanov also says the article includes only the bugs he found interesting, calling that selection a matter of personal taste. It is therefore a set of selected findings, not a complete defect inventory.
Which findings could affect players?
Pasting coordinates into the schematic menu
In SchematicEditScreen, the code calls coords.replaceAll(" ", "") but does not store the returned string. Java strings are immutable, so this call leaves the original value unchanged. The author reports that entering -156, 67, 204 fails, while -156,67,204 works. Assigning the replacement back to coords is the suggested correction.

This is the clearest ordinary-use, user-visible input problem among the findings: spaces in pasted coordinates are not removed as the code appears to intend.
Mechanical crafters in a loop
The method getPrecedingCrafters returns a list, including an empty list, rather than null. That makes a null check in continueIfAllPrecedingFinished unreachable. The author reports that items moved indefinitely between crafters in a loop in the setup tested.

Changing the null check to isEmpty() stopped the loop in the first setup. But after adding two more crafters, the change no longer worked. The article does not establish that this edit is a complete fix, nor does it resolve whether the longer-chain behavior needs a different loop-detection change or is intentional.

Train relocation warning with a nonexistent train
A train-relocation handler checks whether train == null, but its warning message then accesses train.id. Epifanov says a client request using a nonexistent train ID can trigger a logged exception. Packet registration catches and logs exceptions, so the request goes unhandled rather than crashing the server. This is a null-dereference problem in error handling, not evidence of remote server compromise.

Which findings are latent, malformed-input, or debug-only cases?
Schedule condition width calculation
In ScheduleScreen, the result of Math.max(maxWidth, renderInput(...)) is discarded. That makes the calculation ineffective. However, the author says assigning the result would not change the tested display because getConditionColumnWidth() had already calculated and returned sufficient width in the cases checked. The article recommends removing the unnecessary wrapper; it does not demonstrate a visible gameplay defect.
Mixer Optional check
In MechanicalMixerBlockEntity, the article identifies an emptiness check on an Optional after a presence check, making the later branch unreachable. Epifanov says other checks mean this does not affect gameplay in the described path. The concern is that a dead safeguard could become misleading or matter after later refactoring—not that the article demonstrates a current player-facing failure.

Unknown contraption type while loading data
In Contraption.fromNBT, an unknown type can cause ContraptionType.fromType to return null before the caller dereferences the result. The author describes reproducing this with a malformed minecart command: it produced a NullPointerException stack trace, and the minecart was replaced by a vanilla minecart. This is a malformed-data case, not a report that ordinary contraption loading routinely fails.
Interrupted thread in a debug command
ServerLagger catches InterruptedException and only prints it. Since Thread.sleep clears the interrupt flag when it throws that exception, the interruption request is discarded. The suggested correction is to restore the flag with Thread.currentThread().interrupt().

The article says this helper belongs to a debug command available only to operators in debug builds. That sharply limits its relevance to ordinary play.
