Bajaj Finance reported consolidated assets under management (AUM) of ₹509,975 crore at the end of FY2026, up 22% year over year. That signals a larger lending business; it does not tell an individual borrower whether they will qualify or what rate they will be offered. For investors, AUM growth is useful only alongside earnings, credit costs, asset quality, portfolio mix and capital.
How quickly is Bajaj Finance’s loan book growing?
AUM, or assets under management, is the company-reported measure of its lending book under management. Bajaj Finance’s FY2026 annual-report summary put consolidated AUM at ₹509,975 crore, up 22% year over year. The same summary reported net total income of ₹53,324 crore, up 21%, and profit after tax of ₹20,689 crore, up 24%. The company’s PAT figure excludes an additional ₹1,406 crore ECL provision for balance-sheet resilience, ₹142 crore of management and macro-economic overlays, and a ₹265 crore one-time New Labour Codes charge, all recognized in FY2026. These are company-reported figures, not forecasts. Bajaj Finance FY2026 annual report
For Q1 FY2027, Business Standard reported AUM growth of 23.9% year over year and net profit attributable to owners up 27.4% to ₹5,985.75 crore. It also reported annualized loan losses and provisions at 1.54% of average assets under finance, compared with 1.87% in Q1 FY2026. These are publication-reported quarterly figures, rather than a substitute for the company’s annual-report measures. Business Standard’s Q1 FY2027 results report, 30 July 2026

What does AUM growth mean for borrowers?
A larger lending book may reflect a broader lending business and wider customer reach, but it does not establish any one borrower’s eligibility, interest rate, credit limit or service experience. Bajaj Finance’s Fair Practice Code lists facilities including consumer durable, personal, two-wheeler, loan-against-property and loan-against-shares products. The terms depend on the specific product and offer.

Use the written offer and product documents to compare the same type of loan across lenders. Check the applicable interest rate, fees, repayment schedule, penal charges and other conditions before accepting. Bajaj Finance’s code says application forms will include information affecting borrowers’ interests so they can make a meaningful comparison of terms and conditions. What should investors check beyond AUM growth?
AUM growth measures scale and lending expansion, not sustainable returns or the value of the shares. Read it with income and earnings growth, loan-loss provisions, gross and net non-performing assets (GNPA and NNPA), portfolio mix, capital adequacy, funding conditions and the share’s valuation. The figures below describe different measures and periods; none alone establishes future performance.

Look inside the portfolio
Headline NPA ratios do not mean all lending segments carry identical risk. ICRA’s rating rationale dated 18 June 2026 said unsecured consumer finance, personal finance and SME finance represented about 44% of the consolidated portfolio as of 31 March 2026. ICRA characterized asset quality as monitorable and noted FY2026 delinquency increases in unsecured business lending and captive two-wheeler and three-wheeler lending. This is a reason to assess segment exposure and delinquencies alongside company-wide GNPA and NNPA, not to assume every segment has the same risk. ICRA rating rationale, 18 June 2026

Account for regulation without treating it as a guarantee
Bajaj Finance’s FY2025 annual report says RBI scale-based regulation classified the company and a subsidiary as upper-layer NBFCs from 30 September 2022, bringing them under an enhanced regulatory framework. That is regulatory context, not a guarantee of investment performance or an absence of credit risk. Bajaj Finance FY2025 annual report

What AUM growth cannot tell you
- For borrowers, company-wide growth does not establish approval, a particular limit, a lower rate or better service.
- For investors, growth alone does not establish profitability quality, future credit losses, the adequacy of capital or whether the shares are attractively valued.
- For comparisons, the figures here do not provide an apples-to-apples peer-company table. Compare lenders using matching products and periods, and assess Bajaj Finance’s growth alongside its own earnings, credit costs, portfolio exposure and capital.
