Investing in an AI infrastructure provider such as CoreWeave means betting that it can finance, build and keep its computing capacity busy enough to earn a return. The risks include reliance on a few major customers, heavy borrowing and investment needs, construction delays, changing technology and uncertainty about whether contract commitments become revenue. Even if the business grows quickly, its shares can still be a poor investment at an unjustified price.

What risks come with CoreWeave’s business model?

CoreWeave sells computing capacity used for demanding workloads, including AI. Scaling that business requires substantial infrastructure and financing. The company’s FY2025 Form 10-K, filed with the SEC, describes these risks and reports the figures below for the year ended, or as of, December 31, 2025. They are company-reported figures, not independent industry measurements.

Risk Company-reported evidence Why it matters to investors

Customer concentration and counterparty risk

Microsoft generated approximately 67% of CoreWeave’s revenue in 2025. The company expects a limited number of large customers to remain important. CoreWeave FY2025 Form 10-K A large customer that reduces spending, changes its infrastructure strategy or cannot meet its obligations could affect revenue, utilization and cash flow. Prepayments and credit controls may reduce some exposure, but they do not make the customer base diversified. Commitments from other customers are not the same as revenue already earned from them.

Capital intensity, debt and dilution

CoreWeave reported $10.3 billion of net cash used in investing activities in 2025 and said it expects significant investment to continue. It describes financing infrastructure through debt, equity, delayed-draw facilities, OEM financing and cash. CoreWeave FY2025 Form 10-K Borrowing can fund expansion but brings interest and repayment obligations. Selling additional shares can dilute existing shareholders’ ownership. The fact that financing sources have been used does not establish that more financing will remain available, or be available on acceptable terms.

Power, construction and supply-chain execution

At December 31, 2025, CoreWeave reported more than 850 MW of active power and approximately 3.1 GW of contracted power capacity expected to be deployed later. These are distinct measures: contracted capacity is not necessarily operating capacity. CoreWeave FY2025 Form 10-K Capacity must be supported by available power, sites, construction and equipment before it can provide services. The company discloses long lead times and dependence on power, data-center equipment and suppliers. If deployment slips, financing costs and contractual commitments may arrive before the associated capacity can generate service revenue.

Changing technology and uncertain utilization

The filing describes a limited operating history at the company’s current scale, evolving customer demand, competition and uncertainty about customer adoption of newer hardware and services. CoreWeave FY2025 Form 10-K AI workloads, chip generations, cooling needs and preferred platforms can change faster than infrastructure pays for itself. If customers adopt new equipment or services more slowly than expected, or demand shifts, deployed assets could be less utilized or earn less over their useful lives. That is a risk implied by the disclosures, not evidence that CoreWeave has already suffered a particular impairment.

Backlog conversion

CoreWeave reported $66.8 billion of revenue backlog at December 31, 2025. Its FY2025 results release defines backlog as subject to delivery and service-availability requirements. CoreWeave FY2025 results release Backlog is an indicator of contracted potential work, not cash, recognized revenue, operating cash flow or profit. Conversion depends on delivery and service availability, and on the capacity and funding needed to meet commitments. Its value to investors also depends on timing and contract terms.

Why business growth does not settle whether the stock is attractive

Company-level risks affect whether CoreWeave can deliver services and earn cash. Stock valuation is a separate question: what investors pay for the expected future results. A rapidly expanding business can still be an overvalued investment if the share price assumes growth, margins or cash generation that do not materialize. Conversely, identifying serious business risks alone does not show that a stock is overpriced.

The figures above do not establish a current fair value for CRWV. A price-based assessment would also need current share-price and share-count data, an outlook for dilution, debt and lease obligations, and explicit assumptions about growth, margins and cash flow. Without those inputs and a stated valuation method, a buy, sell, cheap or expensive conclusion is not supported.

How to assess the evidence before investing

Use the latest company filings and results materials, rather than assuming year-end 2025 figures remain current. CoreWeave’s reported results and commitments can change as new quarters are disclosed. When reading updates, distinguish capacity already operating from capacity contracted for future deployment, and distinguish revenue already recognized from backlog that still depends on delivery and service availability.

For any AI infrastructure stock, read risk disclosures alongside operating and financial results. Focus on whether customer demand is broadening, whether buildout is progressing, how expansion is funded, and whether deployed assets produce cash returns—not just on growth or headline contract totals. These CoreWeave-specific disclosures do not establish a ranking of its peers.
