If you want an app to scan loose LEGO bricks and suggest things to build, Brickit is the closest match among the alternatives listed here: it is designed to suggest builds from a photo of your pile and help you locate pieces. The other named options solve different problems, from managing an inventory to generating a design from a text prompt. Product Hunt’s alternatives list is a starting point, not an independent performance ranking.
What Brickit does—and what kind of alternative to look for
Brickit’s central workflow is to scatter your LEGO bricks, take a photo, and browse build ideas with help finding the pieces needed for a suggested build. Its official site also describes a digital inventory system organized into numbered Pockets, intended for collections ranging from hundreds to tens of thousands of bricks. Those are related but distinct needs: a quick scan for a build idea is not the same as maintaining a corrected catalog over time.
Brickit says it is free with some paid Pro features and is available on iOS and Android. The U.S. App Store result surfaced a one-month Pro purchase at $6.99, but that storefront-specific price and subscription terms can change and should not be assumed for other regions. The official Brickit site also describes a version for schools and camps with setup for K–8 groups, but specific current features and terms are not established here. [Google Play listing] [Brickit]

Which Brickit alternative fits your goal?
| Option | Best fit | How it differs from Brickit |
|---|---|---|
| Pileometer | Maintaining a digital brick inventory | Product Hunt describes batch scanning and the ability to correct recognition errors, making it the closest fit when ongoing catalog management matters more than one-off build discovery. |
| Brick Generator | Turning a text prompt into a LEGO-style concept | It starts with an idea rather than the bricks you already own; Product Hunt describes LDraw output. |
| LEGO | Following official set instructions or getting parts | This is the route for official builds or obtaining pieces, rather than discovering what can be made from a loose pile. |
| Campedia | General camera-based identification and questions about photos | Product Hunt describes photo-plus-voice questions; it is broader than LEGO-specific build discovery. |
| FieldDay | Creating custom vision models or AR and Lens Studio experiences | It is a developer-oriented adjacent tool, not a direct substitute for scanning bricks to get build ideas. |
These descriptions come from Product Hunt’s alternatives content, not controlled tests of the apps. They do not establish which option recognizes bricks most accurately or produces the most usable builds. [Product Hunt’s Brickit alternatives]
How to choose the right tool
Before installing an alternative, decide what you need it to do after the camera or design step. These checks help separate a useful fit from a similar-sounding app:
Rank #2
- Fun and Engaging - Kids will spend hours engaging in pretend play with this medium-sized building kit. Create toy trains or tiger figurines with this classic collection of LEGO bricks in 35 different colors
- Endless Builds - This creative toy for boys and girls includes windows, toy eyes, 18 tires and toy wheel rims that can be placed on a green baseplate for kids to role-play; plus the container can be used as toy storage
- Imaginative Play - Kids can use their imagination, picking an assortment of bricks to bring to life any building toy they want with these colorful toys, fostering kids' playtime and building creativity throughout the process
- Cross Compatible - Kids won't have to stop the role play with just the LEGO Creative Brick playset as these building toys are compatible with all LEGO construction sets.
- Fun for Everyone - In this 484-piece kit, the green baseplate measures over 3 inches long and 6 inches wide; for boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 99 years old
- Start with the input: Do you want suggestions based on bricks you already own, a catalog of your collection, or a model generated from a written idea?
- Check recognition correction: If the tool misidentifies a piece, can you review and fix it? That matters more for an inventory you plan to rely on than for casual exploration.
- Inspect the output: Does it provide build guidance or a parts list, or only a visual concept? A design that cannot be translated into available pieces may not answer the original question.
- Ask about portability: If you need to continue designing elsewhere, check whether output can be exported to a format such as LDraw.
- Verify practical requirements: Check whether the app depends on cloud services, supports sharing, and offers the integrations your workflow needs. Product Hunt raises these as considerations, but does not provide measured evaluations.
Should you buy more bricks to use Brickit?
No. Brickit’s stated core use is discovering builds from LEGO bricks you already have; the sources do not establish any required set or accessory. Buying a set or individual parts is relevant only if you prefer official instructions or need pieces missing from your collection. A compartment organizer may complement a large physical collection, but it is not a Brickit requirement. [Brickit] [Product Hunt’s Brickit alternatives]
