There is no single like-for-like substitute for CoreWeave. Public-market exposure to AI infrastructure comes from businesses with different roles: specialist compute and data-center operators such as IREN, diversified cloud providers, and suppliers such as NVIDIA. Which category fits depends on whether you want exposure to operating capacity, a broader cloud business, or sales of infrastructure components.
How to think about alternatives to CoreWeave
CoreWeave describes itself as an AI-focused cloud provider. In its FY2025 Form 10-K, it identifies hyperscalers that offer general-purpose cloud as part of broader portfolios as its primary competitors. That makes them competitors for cloud workloads, but not necessarily close matches as investments: their cloud exposure sits within a wider business mix.
For investors, the useful distinction is where a company sits in the infrastructure value chain. A data-center operator, a cloud provider, and a chip supplier can all benefit from AI infrastructure demand, but they earn revenue differently and face different execution risks. The examples below are sourced illustrations, not a complete list or a peer ranking.
Public-market routes to AI infrastructure exposure
| Route | Example | What the exposure represents | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Specialist AI-cloud and data-center operator | IREN | Potential revenue from providing compute capacity and data-center infrastructure. | Separate operating capacity from announced or planned buildout; IREN’s disclosed partnership plan is not evidence that the planned capacity is already deployed. |
| Diversified hyperscaler | Broad cloud providers identified as CoreWeave competitors | General-purpose cloud offered within a broader business portfolio. | Cloud is less of a pure-play exposure. The cited CoreWeave filing does not establish a complete named list of listed alternatives or comparable cloud revenue figures. |
| Infrastructure supplier | NVIDIA | Sales of products used in AI infrastructure and participation in arrangements with selected AI-cloud partners. | A supplier is not a cloud operator; its exposure depends on demand for the products and systems it provides. |
What IREN’s capacity plan does—and does not—mean
IREN’s FY2026 Form 10-K describes a May 2026 partnership with NVIDIA intended to support deployment over time of up to 5 GW of AI infrastructure across IREN’s global data-center pipeline. “Up to” describes the scale of a plan, not capacity already operating. Treat the figure as forward-looking and distinguish it from completed construction, energized capacity, and revenue-generating deployments.
#1 Best Overall
The filing describes IREN’s customer landscape as spanning hyperscalers, frontier labs, AI developers, and enterprises. That establishes a range of customer types, but does not by itself show how revenue is distributed among them or establish customer-concentration percentages. For an investment comparison, check the company’s current filings for customer concentration, contract terms, delivery milestones, and financing needs.
What to compare before choosing a stock
Revenue model and exposure
- Compute or data-center operator: Examine whether revenue comes from delivered services and operating facilities or depends on future capacity coming online.
- Diversified cloud provider: Check how the company reports cloud activity and how much of the overall business it represents; do not assume that broad cloud competition means CoreWeave-like revenue exposure.
- Supplier: Assess the company’s role in supplying AI infrastructure rather than treating its sales as equivalent to cloud-service revenue.
Capacity, power, and construction execution
Planned capacity has to be converted into functioning infrastructure. NVIDIA’s FY2027 Q2 Form 10-Q identifies the availability of land, power, and data-center shells as important to infrastructure buildout. For an operator, compare announced pipelines with milestones disclosed in filings, including whether sites are ready, power is available, and equipment and facilities are being delivered on schedule.

Diversification, financing, and valuation
Compare each company’s current financial statements for balance-sheet strength, capital commitments, funding plans, and customer concentration. The available company disclosures cited here do not provide a consistent, same-date set of figures for ranking these alternatives, and they do not establish a relative winner.
Valuation also requires a same-date market-data source and comparable measures. A business with more direct AI exposure is not automatically a better-valued stock, and this comparison does not support a buy-or-sell conclusion. Recheck filings and market data close to any investment decision because capacity plans, agreements, financing, and market prices can change.
Rank #3
CoreWeave’s reported growth is context, not a comparison
In its FY2025 shareholder letter, CoreWeave reported $5 billion in annual revenue in its first calendar year as a public company and 168% year-over-year growth. These are company-reported figures for that stated period, not independently established comparative evidence across the alternatives and not proof of future growth. They also do not resolve whether a diversified cloud provider, an operator, or a supplier is the better fit for a particular investor.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.A practical way to narrow the field
- Choose the exposure you want. Decide whether you are looking for operating compute and data-center capacity, cloud exposure within a broader company, or infrastructure supply.
- Separate operating results from plans. Read filings for deployed capacity and reported revenue; treat pipelines, partnerships, and future deployment targets as plans until progress is reported.
- Inspect execution and financing. Review power and site readiness, customer mix, capital commitments, and how the company expects to fund its buildout.
- Compare valuation using a consistent date. Use the same market-data date and comparable measures across candidates rather than relying on an isolated growth figure or an unsourced ranking.
These steps help distinguish the investment cases; they do not make companies in different parts of the AI infrastructure chain directly comparable.
