The story follows David Freeman, a boy who disappears and returns eight years later. D23 says he had been aboard a spaceship; Disney’s synopsis describes David traveling with Max and returning with navigational knowledge. When was Flight of the Navigator released?

Disney lists the film’s release date as July 30, 1986, and rates it PG. Its Disney categories are science fiction, action-adventure, and family entertainment. Why is Reubens sometimes credited as “Paul Mall”?

AOL has reported that Reubens received a “Paul Mall” credit and attributed the pseudonym to a playful choice by director Randal Kleiser. That explanation is secondary reporting; the official film information cited above confirms Reubens’s role as Max but does not establish why that name was used. AOL
