The Westinghouse WHI943BD is a 90 cm, four-zone induction cooktop with BoilProtect on two zones, PowerBoost and a Hob2Hood rangehood link. It is a sensible option only if your existing opening matches its cut-out, your kitchen has a suitable hardwired electrical connection, and your pans are induction-compatible. Independent performance scores are not publicly visible for this model, and CHOICE lists it as discontinued, so confirm stock before you commit.

The figures below come from Westinghouse Australia’s product page for the WHI943BD, retrieved in October 2026. Westinghouse also presents the product in New Zealand, but the sources reviewed were Australian, so check local listings, electrical requirements and warranty terms for your country.

These ratings describe the appliance. They do not tell you whether a particular home circuit can supply it, which is covered below.
Cooking zones
The manufacturer lists four induction zones with pot sensors. Only the left front zone has a boost setting in the listing.

The large left front zone is the one to use for a wok, a large stockpot or a griddle. Measure your pans against the diameters above, not against the outer edges of the glass.
Features and their limits
BoilProtect
Westinghouse describes the feature in this sentence: “BoilProtect detects rising bubbles and automatically reduces to a low simmer.” The same listing limits it to stainless-steel and enamelled pots filled with water. Treat it as a helpful safeguard for pasta water and stock, not as a general boil-over guard for every pan and food. This is the manufacturer’s claim; no independent test of the feature was accessible.
PowerBoost
PowerBoost is listed on the left front zone, which raises it to 3600 W. Boost settings draw more current, so they matter most when the electrical installation has been checked for the full connected load.

Hob2Hood
Westinghouse says Hob2Hood works with compatible rangehoods and adjusts fan speed and airflow automatically. The sources reviewed did not name specific compatible rangehood models. Confirm the exact model with the rangehood manufacturer before you buy either appliance.

Will it fit your kitchen?
The cut-out is 880 × 490 mm. Westinghouse’s dimension sheet shows an opening of 880 +1 mm by 490 +1 mm and a minimum 20 mm clearance under the underside of the hob. Those values are a guide. The full installation manual governs, and it is the document an installer will work from.
A 90 cm width on the packaging does not guarantee a match with your benchtop. Measure the existing opening’s width and depth, check the clearance beneath, and compare the result with the manual before ordering. If you are replacing an existing cooktop of a different brand, the cut-out may not be the same size.
Electrical installation
The WHI943BD is hardwired, lists a 6.5 kW connected load and a maximum current of 32 A. These are the points an electrician will check against your switchboard and circuit. The sources reviewed do not establish whether a given home needs a single-phase or three-phase installation, nor what wiring capacity any reader’s home has.

- Ask an electrician to confirm the circuit can carry 32 A and that the cable and isolator suit a hardwired appliance.
- Check local requirements for permits or licensed-trade work before installation.
- Do not wire the cooktop yourself on the basis of appliance ratings alone.
Cookware
Induction cooktops only heat cookware made from a magnetic material. Appliances Online makes this point in its retail listing. A pan marked “induction” or “induction-compatible” is the simplest choice. Stainless steel is not automatically compatible, since some stainless steels are not magnetic. Check each pan’s base with a fridge magnet: if the magnet sticks firmly, the pan will normally work. Follow the cookware manufacturer’s guidance if you are unsure.
Independent test evidence
CHOICE lists the WHI943BD with four zones, a 6.5 kW maximum capacity, 900 × 520 mm dimensions, 880 × 490 mm installation dimensions and a two-year warranty. It labels the model discontinued. The listing shows testing from 2024 onwards, but several performance results are available only to CHOICE members. The accessible page therefore does not give boil times, simmering results, noise, efficiency, reliability or an overall CHOICE verdict for this model.
Westinghouse’s product page displayed a score of 4.7 from 24 user reviews when it was retrieved in October 2026. That is a changing, manufacturer-hosted user-review count. It is not a laboratory measurement and should not be read as an independent test result.
Availability and warranty
CHOICE’s discontinued label means the model may be hard to find new. Retail stock can still exist, so check current listings with the retailer and ask whether the stock is new, factory-sealed and carries the Westinghouse warranty. The listed warranty is two years for domestic use.

Who this cooktop suits
The WHI943BD suits a kitchen that already has, or can be given, a 880 × 490 mm opening with the required clearance; a hardwired supply that an electrician confirms can carry the load; and induction-compatible pans. It also suits households that want a boost on a large front zone and a rangehood that can coordinate with the hob, provided the rangehood is confirmed compatible. It is a poor fit if you need verified independent performance scores before buying, or if you cannot confirm current stock.
The available evidence supports these conclusions about fit, power and features. It does not support ranking the WHI943BD above other 90 cm induction cooktops on cooking performance.

Buy the WHI943BD only after you have confirmed three things: the opening matches its 880 × 490 mm cut-out with 20 mm of clearance, an electrician has approved a hardwired circuit for 32 A, and your pans are magnetic. Confirm current stock, since CHOICE lists the model as discontinued.
