The Westinghouse WHI642BE is a four-zone, 60cm induction cooktop with a listed 4.6kW connected load, hardwired connection and a 560 × 490mm benchtop cutout. It is worth considering if your existing opening, electrical supply, everyday pans and compatible rangehood suit its specifications. Public information confirms its features and dimensions, but does not reveal CHOICE’s independent performance scores.
What the WHI642BE offers
Westinghouse Australia identifies the WHI642BE as a 60cm PowerReady induction cooktop with a black ceramic-glass surface. Its controls are touch-and-slide, and the feature list includes PowerBoost, pause, a quick-cook timer, child safety device, residual-heat indicator, pot detection and Hob2Hood. The stated domestic warranty is two years. Westinghouse’s product page shows 4.9/5 from 69 user reviews; that is customer feedback hosted by the manufacturer, not an independent test result.
Will it fit your benchtop?
The cooktop’s listed external dimensions are 590 × 520 × 51mm; the required cutout is 560 × 490mm. Those measurements are not interchangeable: the cutout is the opening in the bench, while the external dimensions describe the appliance. The manufacturer’s dimension sheet calls its dimensions a guide and directs installers to the product manual for complete instructions.
Before ordering, measure the existing opening and check the manual’s clearance and installation requirements with your installer. A nominally matching opening alone does not establish that the appliance can be installed safely in a particular benchtop or cabinet.

Does your electrical setup suit it?
The listed connected load is 4.6kW, the maximum current rating is 20A, and the cooktop is hardwired. These specifications make the home’s electrical arrangement an essential pre-purchase check; they are not a plug-in connection description.
Westinghouse says, “PowerReady Induction cooktops are designed to work with standard household power, removing the need for complex electrical upgrades.” That is the manufacturer’s description, not a guarantee that every home needs no electrical assessment or work. Westinghouse also advises buyers to consult a licensed electrician about installation. Zone sizes and pan compatibility
The four cooking zones are not identical. CHOICE lists usable minimum pan diameters of 12.5cm on three zones and 15cm on one. Compare those minimums with the base diameter of the pans you actually use, and check the manual for the relevant zone before assuming a small pan will be detected or heat evenly on every position.

CHOICE’s public listing gives the usable minimum pan diameters as three zones at 12.5cm and one at 15cm, but does not identify which zone has the larger minimum in the public information consulted. Confirm the zone-specific requirement in the manual rather than assigning the 15cm minimum to a position by guesswork. CHOICE’s induction cooktop listing identifies the WHI642BE and shows its publicly visible specifications.

Hob2Hood depends on compatible equipment
Hob2Hood lets a compatible rangehood communicate with the cooktop and adjust fan speed and airflow automatically, according to Westinghouse. It is not a universal control feature for any rangehood. Check the rangehood model’s compatibility before treating automatic ventilation as a benefit of this cooktop. Westinghouse’s Hob2Hood information describes the integration.
What independent evidence is public?
CHOICE’s public page identifies the WHI642BE and says it is among the models tested from 2024 onwards. However, the expert rating, cooking-performance score, ease-of-use score and other test results are member-only on the page consulted. There is not enough public evidence there to claim that the cooktop outperformed or underperformed rivals.

CHOICE listed a price of AUD $1,249 when its page was accessed in 2026. That is a source-listed figure, not a verified live retail price. Westinghouse’s 4.9/5 rating from 69 reviews is a separate, manufacturer-hosted user-rating figure; it should not be compared as though it were CHOICE’s test score.

Buying checks and alternatives
- Measure the benchtop opening against the listed 560 × 490mm cutout and verify clearances using the manual and installer.
- Ask a licensed electrician whether the hardwired 4.6kW, 20A specification suits the home and proposed installation.
- Compare your pans’ base diameters with the zone layout and confirm the 15cm minimum’s position in the manual.
- Check your rangehood model’s compatibility if Hob2Hood matters to you.
- When comparing other 60cm four-zone induction cooktops, compare cutout and clearance, electrical connection and load, zone diameters and minimum pan sizes, boost and pause/timer functions, rangehood integration, warranty, and accessible independent test evidence.
The adjacent Westinghouse WHC642BE is a ceramic cooktop, not induction, so it is not a like-for-like alternative unless you are also considering a change in cooking technology. Westinghouse identifies the WHC642BE as ceramic.
