To convert a web page to JPG, choose between a hosted URL converter and a browser capture. For a public, unauthenticated URL, a service such as CloudConvert renders the page in a headless browser and returns JPG, PNG, or SVG. If the page is already open—or contains private account data—a local tool such as the Page to Image Chrome extension or Microsoft Edge Screenshot keeps the work in your browser. Use full-page mode for the whole document, visible-area mode for what is on screen, and selected-area mode for one region.
Choose the right conversion method
The deciding question is where the page can be accessed.

A hosted renderer may display dynamic, blocked, localized, or authenticated content differently from your own logged-in browser. A local capture cannot be used on browser-internal pages such as Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, or developer tools.
Convert a public URL to JPG online
CloudConvert workflow
- Open CloudConvert’s Webpage to Image converter.
- Paste the complete public URL, including
https://. - Choose JPG as the output format. The service also documents PNG and SVG.
- Start the capture and wait for the headless browser to finish rendering.
- Download the resulting image and inspect the bottom of the page, responsive layout, fonts, images, and any overlays.
CloudConvert describes this as capturing a public webpage as a JPG, PNG, or SVG screenshot for mockups or records. It cannot fetch pages that require a login, so use a local browser method for those.

Other hosted URL tools
WebToJPG offers quick URL-to-JPG captures and says screenshots are sent back without retaining URLs or images; those are vendor claims, so check its current terms before relying on them. Site-Shot documents PNG, JPEG, or WebP output with Chromium-based controls for viewport, device, full-page capture, and geolocation. Website Screenshot Online and Webshot Online describe public URL capture with JPEG/JPG, PNG, and PDF options. Hosted services generally need a publicly reachable page and may be affected by robots controls, bot checks, geolocation, cookie banners, or resources that load only in a normal interactive session.
Capture a full webpage locally in Chrome
Page to Image extension
The Page to Image Chrome Web Store listing identifies version 0.9.14, updated September 20, 2026. It supports full-page, visible-area, and selected-area capture, adjustable JPEG quality, PNG and PDF export, cropping, annotation, and redaction.
- Install Page to Image from the Chrome Web Store, then open the regular webpage you want to capture.
- Click the extension icon and select Full page, Visible area, or Selected area.
- Let the extension scroll and stitch the page when using Full page. Lazy-loaded images may appear only after the page has been scrolled.
- Crop, annotate, hide unwanted sticky elements, or redact sensitive content if needed.
- Copy the result or export it as JPEG, PNG, or PDF. Set JPEG quality high enough that text remains legible, then check the downloaded file.
According to the extension’s privacy policy, scrolling, stitching, cropping, annotation, and PNG/JPEG/PDF encoding use your device’s resources inside the browser. The policy says the service does not receive the page URL, title, filename, screenshot, image bytes, annotations, or capture history. Chrome blocks extensions on internal pages such as chrome://settings, the Web Store, and developer tools; navigate to a normal HTTP or HTTPS page instead.

- Open the target page in Edge.
- Open the browser’s Screenshot feature from the toolbar or browser menu.
- Choose a full-page capture or drag around a selected area.
- Use pen or touch markup if you need to point out information.
- Copy or save the image, then verify the file format and dimensions.
Microsoft positions Screenshot as a way to turn anything on the web into a shareable image. The exact location and availability of the feature can differ by device, market, and browser release.
Full page, viewport, or selected region?
Full-page capture
Use it for an entire article, landing page, receipt, or design review. Very long pages can produce tall images that are awkward to email or print. Check that fixed headers, lazy images, and repeated navigation were stitched correctly.

Visible-area capture
Choose this when you need exactly what the reader sees at one moment—for example, a bug report or a social post. It avoids an extremely tall file but excludes content below the fold.
Selected-area capture
Select one chart, product card, form, or paragraph when surrounding content is irrelevant. This is usually the cleanest option for documentation and presentations.

For a UI or code sample, export PNG first and compare it with a high-quality JPEG. For a record intended to print like a document, compare PDF. These choices follow the formats’ stated characteristics rather than a universal quality ranking.
Privacy, permissions, and accuracy checks
- Authentication: Hosted converters normally cannot see content behind your login. A local browser capture can, but treat the resulting file as sensitive.
- Personal data: Look for names, email addresses, order numbers, account balances, and hidden form values before sharing. Redact them locally when possible.
- Consent and overlays: Cookie banners, newsletter prompts, chat widgets, sticky bars, and modal dialogs can cover the page. Dismiss or hide them before capture, and recapture if they reappear.
- Dynamic content: Record the date and time when a price, stock count, advertisement, or personalized recommendation matters. A hosted renderer and your browser may receive different content.
- Copyright and terms: WebToJPG advises checking website terms and permissions for commercial reuse and crediting sources when screenshots are published. Apply the same caution to any capture method.

Troubleshooting conversion problems
The service says the URL cannot be fetched
Confirm the address is public, uses HTTPS or HTTP correctly, and does not require a login, VPN, or intranet. Test it in a private browser window. If only your logged-in browser can view it, use Page to Image or Edge.
The JPG is blank or only partly rendered
Wait for network activity and lazy-loaded images to finish. In a local tool, scroll through the page once before capturing. In a hosted API, use an explicit wait or selector option when available and check for bot protection, blocked resources, or a consent modal.

Text looks blurry
Increase JPEG quality or export PNG. Capture at a larger viewport or retina scale, then resize down after the text is legible. Avoid repeatedly opening and saving the same JPEG.

The bottom of a long page is missing
Use full-page rather than visible-area mode, make sure the page can scroll, and check whether a fixed footer or infinite-scroll feed has a defined end. For dynamic feeds, capture after the required content has loaded.
Chrome will not run the extension
Move from an internal page such as settings, the Web Store, or developer tools to an ordinary webpage. Review the extension’s permissions and reload the tab if the page changed after installation.
The hosted image differs from your screen
Compare viewport width, device emulation, timezone, geolocation, cookies, user agent, and login state. Personalized or localized content is expected to vary. Save a local capture when visual fidelity to your authenticated session is the priority.

Reliability, performance, and cost considerations
- Long pages: Full-page stitching consumes more memory and may create very tall files. A selected region or PDF can be easier to review.
- Repeat captures: Keep the URL, viewport, format, and capture time consistent. Caching can speed repeated API requests, but a cached result may not show a newly changed page.
- Automation: Hosted APIs are practical for scheduled, many-URL work; local extensions are convenient for occasional interactive captures.
