Authorities say Colleen Nichole Lemmon, 42, was charged with two counts of capital murder after her sons, ages 21 and 15, died from gunshot wounds at a Waxahachie home on October 1, 2026. The charge is an allegation, not a conviction; the reports reviewed do not establish a motive or explain the circumstances of the shooting.
What happened in Waxahachie
Ellis County deputies responded to a home in the 900 block of Big Sky Drive after a 911 call reporting an emergency. KLTv reported that dispatch occurred at approximately 4:13 a.m. on October 1. Deputies found two male victims with gunshot wounds.
Christopher Scott Pitre, 21, died at the scene. His 15-year-old brother was taken to a hospital and later died. Authorities have not released the younger boy’s name.
What authorities said about the charge
The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office said evidence gathered during the investigation led investigators to identify Lemmon as the suspected shooter. KLTv reported that the office described probable cause as based on corroborating evidence, but the reports do not describe that evidence. Lemmon was charged with two counts of capital murder. A charge is not proof of guilt, and the reports do not establish a conviction.

The reporting does not say whether prosecutors are seeking a particular punishment. A capital-murder charge alone does not establish that capital punishment is being sought.
What is known about Lemmon’s injuries and booking
Reports said Lemmon was found at the residence with injuries described as non-life-threatening. CBS Texas reported that she received medical treatment before being booked into the Wayne McCollum Detention Center. The sources do not explain how she was injured.

What remains unclear
- The motive and circumstances of the shooting were described as unclear in the October 1 reports.
- The reports do not identify the evidence investigators cited beyond the sheriff’s office’s description of it as corroborating.
- CBS Texas reported on October 1 that Lemmon was awaiting arraignment and that bond had not been set at that time. That is a dated status, not confirmation of her current court or custody status.
Sheriff’s statement
Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said in a statement reported by CBS Texas: “My deepest sympathies go out to the victims’ father, family members, and loved ones involved in this tragic incident. They will remain in our prayers during this difficult time.”
