To watch Prime Video on a TV, first check the TV’s app store or installed apps for Prime Video. If the app is available, open it and sign in. If not, check support for your exact TV model or use a compatible streaming player or game console you already own.
Check whether your TV supports Prime Video
Amazon lists selected smart TVs from manufacturers including Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG, VIZIO, Hisense, Philips, Sharp, and TCL. The brand alone does not confirm compatibility: support varies by model, and Amazon notes that the app is no longer supported on some Samsung models released in 2012. Check Amazon’s smart TV compatibility list and your manufacturer’s support page for the exact model.
- Open the TV’s app store or apps screen and search for Prime Video. Menu names and installation steps differ by TV model.
- If the app is present, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to sign in.
- If the app is missing, check the model against Amazon’s current supported-device list. If the TV is not supported, try another compatible device connected to it.
Amazon’s compatibility tables list maximum capabilities for some models, not a promise that every title will play at that resolution or with every audio feature. The result can depend on the specific model, title, region, subscription, network, and connected display.
Choose the route that fits the devices you own
Fire TV
On Fire TV, open Prime Video from the home screen or find it using search. Browse or search for a title in the app, then select it to play. Amazon also supports casting Prime Video from a mobile device to Fire TV. See Amazon’s Fire TV instructions.

Streaming players and set-top boxes
Amazon lists selected Chromecast, Google TV/TV Streamer, Roku, and Apple TV devices as compatible. Its table lists up to Ultra HD for the specified Chromecast, Google TV, and Roku entries; for Apple TV, it lists up to Ultra HD on Apple TV 4K and up to HD on other models. These are maximum listed capabilities, not guaranteed playback quality on every model or for every title. Check the media player compatibility list before relying on a particular device or feature.
PlayStation and Xbox
Amazon’s console list includes PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and 4 Pro, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. The table lists up to Ultra HD for several console generations and distinguishes Xbox One S and One X from other Xbox One models. Check Amazon’s console compatibility list for the entry matching your exact console.

Phones, tablets, and computers
Amazon lists Android and iOS mobile devices, as well as Windows 10 and 11 devices, among those with the Prime Video app. Its mobile table lists up to Ultra HD on Android and up to HD on iOS and Windows, while warning that features vary by model and configuration. See the mobile-device list for details. A phone or computer can be a viewing device in its own right; to put its video on a TV, use a casting method supported by both devices.

Amazon documents casting to Chromecast or Android TV, Fire TV, and Echo Show 15. Other targets may not support casting. Follow the requirements for the device you are casting to:

- Chromecast or Android TV: Connect the phone and TV to the same Wi-Fi network. In the Prime Video app, tap Cast and select the target. On iOS, enable Prime Video’s Local Network permission.
- Fire TV: Connect the phone and Fire TV to the same Wi-Fi network and sign in to the same Amazon account on both. Tap Cast in the app and select the Fire TV.
- Echo Show 15: Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network and use the same Amazon account on each.

- The app is not listed on the TV: Confirm support for the exact model in Amazon’s current device list and the manufacturer’s support information. If it is unsupported, use a compatible player or console already in your household if available.
- The TV does not appear when casting: For Chromecast or Android TV, verify the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi network. For Fire TV and Echo Show 15, also confirm that both devices use the same Amazon account.
- Compatibility is unclear: Compare the exact model and generation, not just its brand or product family. Amazon’s support tables show that resolution and other features vary across models.
- You need another way to watch: First check for a supported TV, player, or console you already own. A separate streaming player is only necessary if your available devices do not provide a compatible route.
Amazon’s compatibility documentation was accessed October 7, 2026, and does not establish that every listed device is supported in every region or indefinitely. Check the current list and the manufacturer’s model-specific information before buying equipment or relying on a particular feature.
