Authentic Pro: home, away, alternate, and custom
The Authentic Pro listings are the broadest wearable range. They include home, away, and alternate Capitals designs, and the category also covers custom versions. When comparing these, look at the design features you can see directly: where the logos sit, how the numbers and name are applied, and whether the colour blocking on the sleeves and shoulders matches what you want to wear. Premium: home, away, and player versions
The Premium category shows home and away options and player versions. If you prefer a specific player’s name and number on the back, this is the category to compare against the Authentic Pro range. Compare the two on the live pages, because the store presents them as separate categories and the differences may be in construction and presentation rather than in the basic design.
Blank, name-and-number, or custom
Personalization is a separate choice from the design itself. A blank jersey keeps the design clean and is easy to wear with different players’ names over time. A name-and-number version ties the jersey to a specific player, which is why many fans buy one for a favourite skater. Collectible Capitals jerseys
The collectibles category on the NHL Shop is organized around three kinds of item: signed jerseys, framed examples, and game-used jerseys. The category includes signed Alexander Ovechkin jerseys, framed displays, and game-used jerseys associated with other Capitals or NHL players. Each product is a different proposition. A signed jersey’s value depends on the signature and its documentation. A framed piece is primarily a display item. A game-used jersey’s story depends on what the listing says it was used for.
The store pages describe each item, but they do not establish provenance beyond what each product description states. Treat the listed description as the seller’s claim, not an independent verification. The same applies to resale value: the category page alone does not indicate what an item is worth.

Design history worth knowing

2011 Winter Classic: a replica of the 1974 white jersey
According to the Capitals’ official jersey timeline, the jersey worn for the 2011 NHL Winter Classic was a replica throwback to the original 1974 white jerseys. If you like older Capitals looks, this is a clear example of a modern game jersey built around a historical reference. The visible hallmark to check on a throwback is whether the design matches the older white jersey’s layout rather than a modern reinterpretation.

2023 Stadium Series: the enlarged Weagle
The same timeline says that the 2023 NHL Stadium Series design, produced by adidas, extended the “Weagle,” the team’s secondary logo, from seam to seam across the front of the jersey and onto the sleeves, where the wingtips meet the player numbers. That placement is the most noticeable feature of the design. When you compare it with other Capitals jerseys, check whether the secondary logo runs across the front only or also onto the sleeves.
