In SquareTrade’s reported 2014 Breakability test, the iPhone 6 scored better than the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8. That supports calling it the least breakable of those four in that specific composite test—not a guarantee that it would survive every kind of drop, bend or accident.
How the four phones compared in SquareTrade’s 2014 test
Tom’s Guide reported SquareTrade’s Breakability scores, with lower numbers indicating lower breakability risk. On that measure, the iPhone 6 ranked ahead of the three phones named in the comparison:

These are SquareTrade’s 2014 results as reported by Tom’s Guide, not a real-world breakage-rate study. The reported test put the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 through six consecutive high-speed drops from four feet; it reportedly came away with little more than a few scratches. That outcome describes this particular test setup, not how every iPhone 6 will fare in use.
What the bend test measured—and what it did not
A separate Consumer Reports test measured bending under force, rather than resistance to drops. MacRumors described it as a three-point flexural test: a phone rests on two supports while force is applied at a third point. In the reported results, the iPhone 6 first deformed at 70 pounds of force and began coming apart at 100 pounds. The HTC One (M8) also first deformed at 70 pounds, then began coming apart at 90 pounds.

So the iPhone 6 and One M8 shared the same reported initial deformation threshold, while the iPhone 6 reached the reported screen-and-case separation threshold at a higher force. The test lineup included the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5, HTC One (M8), LG G3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3—not the iPhone 5s or Galaxy S5. It cannot establish a bend-test ranking of all four phones in the title. The figures are from Consumer Reports’ 2014 test as reported by MacRumors.
What the informal drop videos add
PhonesReview described an informal TechSmartt comparison that dropped the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Galaxy S5 and HTC One M8 together. Its account says the devices remained functional with uncracked screens after head-height drops, though they had cosmetic blemishes. The report calls the test informal and not scientific; its mention of a ten-foot round does not provide a controlled comparative result. It is anecdotal context, not a reliable basis for naming a drop-test winner. PhonesReview’s account describes the video and its limitations.

A different informal video comparison among the iPhone 5s, Galaxy S5 and One (M8) was reported by PhoneArena. Its account says the Galaxy S5’s digitizer failed at the first higher drop, illustrating that a phone may lose function without visible screen cracking being the only relevant sign of damage. Because the iPhone 6 was not part of that comparison, it does not establish the four-phone ranking. PhoneArena’s report covers that separate video.

What “more durable” means for these results
Durability is not one outcome. A phone can resist a drop but bend under load, keep its screen intact but stop functioning, or suffer cosmetic damage without separating. SquareTrade’s composite score, the Consumer Reports flexural measurements and informal drop videos examine different failure modes, so their results should not be combined into a single universal ranking.

The evidence supports a narrow conclusion: the iPhone 6 had the best score among the four in SquareTrade’s reported 2014 composite comparison. It does not establish the probability that a particular owner’s phone will break, nor does it show that the iPhone 6 was safest under every type of damage. Anyone still using one can consider an iPhone 6 case for added physical protection, but these results do not demonstrate that any specific case prevents damage.
