Was the Google TV Streamer discontinued? Google’s official product pages still list the Google TV Streamer (4K), so the claim that Google has discontinued it is not confirmed. That listing does not guarantee stock at every retailer or in every country.

What Google’s current product pages show

Google’s Google TV product lineup lists the Google TV Streamer (4K) and displays a starting price of $149.99. Google’s product and comparison page also continues to describe the device and compare it with Chromecast with Google TV.

Those pages are evidence that Google has not publicly confirmed discontinuation there. They do not establish whether the device is in stock at a specific retailer, available in every market, or purchasable at the displayed price in your region. Discontinuation, a retailer removing a listing, and temporary out-of-stock status are different things.

What the Google TV Streamer offers

The Streamer is a 4K box-style streaming device, rather than a dongle that hangs from the TV’s HDMI port. Google lists Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, built-in Ethernet, and smart-home functions involving Thread, Matter, and Google Home. Its redesigned voice remote includes a customizable button and a feature to help find the remote.

How it compares with Chromecast with Google TV

Google’s comparison page lists the following differences. Prices below are the figures displayed on that support page, not a reconciled, universal current price: Google’s separate product lineup displays a $149.99 starting price for the Streamer.

Should you buy now or wait for a successor?

TechRadar reported on October 11, 2026, that a possible next-generation model was rumored based on an unnamed source familiar with the matter. That report is not an official Google announcement, and it does not show that Google has discontinued the current Streamer.

  • Expand your home entertainment without buying a new TV; Google Chromecast lets you stream your favorites from your phone, tablet, or laptop; no remote needed
  • Chromecast is easy to set up up; just plug it in, connect to Wi-Fi, and start streaming to turn your TV into a smart TV; it works with almost any TV that has an HDMI port
  • Works with the apps you already know and love; enjoy shows, movies, music, games, sports, photos, live TV, and more from over 2,000 streaming apps in up to 1080p
  • With Chromecast, you can stream, pause, play, or adjust the volume right from your phone with just a tap; while you’re streaming, you can still use your phone as you normally do
  • Mirror your laptop screen or turn your tablet into an even better entertainment system; surf the web or see your media on the big screen

If the device fits your needs and is available from a seller you trust, the official listing supports considering it as a current product. If you are specifically waiting for a successor, its existence, features, and timing are not confirmed by Google in the sources available here.

Check your TV and connection before buying

  • The Streamer needs a TV or display with an HDMI connection. Google recommends a 4K display for the best experience.
  • Google recommends an “Ultra High Speed” HDMI 2.1 certified cable for optimal performance; the cable is sold separately.
  • The device can output only up to the resolution supported by both the Streamer and the display. The available resolution also depends on the content.
  • Check local availability and the final checkout price with Google or the retailer you plan to use; a product page alone does not confirm inventory.
