Fujitsu called the LIFEBOOK UH90/L the “world’s thinnest Ultrabook” when it announced the laptop on June 5, 2013. The claim was specifically about HDD-equipped laptop PCs and used a thickness of 15.5 mm at the machine’s thickest point, excluding protruding parts. Fujitsu said the comparison was based on its own research as of that date, so it is best understood as a dated manufacturer claim—not a timeless or independently verified record.
What did Fujitsu mean by “world’s thinnest”?
In its June 5, 2013 announcement, Fujitsu described the LIFEBOOK UH90/L as the “world’s thinnest Ultrabook.” Its footnote narrowed the comparison to laptop PCs with HDDs and specified a maximum thickness of 15.5 mm, excluding protruding parts. Fujitsu attributed the comparison to its own research as of June 5, 2013.
That qualification matters: the number is not a measurement of every point on the chassis, and the claim is not an independent ranking of every Ultrabook on the market. Notebookcheck’s contemporaneous coverage described the model as a contender for the title, rather than establishing a definitive record.

What was notable about the UH90/L?
A 14-inch, high-resolution touchscreen
Fujitsu said the laptop fit a 14-inch display into a standard 13-inch form factor. The touchscreen used IGZO technology, with a 3200 × 1800 resolution and a stated density of 262 pixels per inch. Fujitsu described that resolution as approximately 2.7 times the detail of Full HD.

Launch-era processor and storage
The announced configuration used a fourth-generation Intel Core i5-4200U processor and a 500 GB hybrid hard drive. PC Watch’s contemporaneous launch coverage also listed 4 GB of memory, Windows 8 64-bit, a 45 Wh internal battery, a weight of approximately 1.39 kg, and dimensions of 329.9 × 229.9 × 9.2–15.5 mm.
These are specifications reported around the 2013 launch. They do not establish how a particular used unit performs today or the present condition of its battery or storage.

How does it compare with Fujitsu’s earlier thinness claim?
Fujitsu had made a similar HDD-equipped notebook thinness claim for the LIFEBOOK UH75/H in 2012, listing a thickness of 15.6 mm. The UH90/L announcement followed with a 15.5 mm figure and a higher-resolution touchscreen. Fujitsu’s 2012 announcement provides historical context, but the two company claims do not independently verify either model as a world record.

Is the LIFEBOOK UH90/L a current laptop to buy?
The UH90/L is legacy hardware, not a current-generation Ultrabook. Fujitsu FMV Support identifies its June 2013 catalog model codes as FMVU90LR and FMVU90LB in its model listing. The launch-era records do not establish current sales, prices, or inventory, and they do not confirm compatibility for replacement parts.

If searching for a Fujitsu LIFEBOOK UH90/L laptop, confirm that a listing is for the exact UH90/L model rather than another UH-series computer, and check the seller’s description of condition. Do not assume a listing exists or that a battery, charger, or other part will fit without verifying the specific item’s compatibility.
