Martin Klíma, co-founder of Kingdom Come: Deliverance studio Warhorse, hopes Grand Theft Auto VI will sell well enough to make higher game prices easier for other publishers to introduce. That is his view of the industry—not evidence that GTA 6 will trigger price increases across the market.
What did Warhorse co-founder Martin Klíma say?
In an interview reported by PC Gamer on October 1, 2026, Klíma argued that raising the price per game is one way publishers could bring in more revenue. He said: “The last thing you can do is to increase the unit price. That would help a lot, but everybody’s scared to death about it. Now, hopefully, GTA will blaze the trail, and it will allow us to increase the cost.”
Klíma also said Rockstar and Take-Two are the only companies “who can afford, or who can dare, to increase the price of games, which I think is long overdue and also necessary for this business to survive.” Those are his judgments about the business, not a confirmed industry consensus or a guarantee that higher prices would make games financially sustainable.

PC Gamer’s account of Klíma’s reasoning points to rising development costs and limits on how much publishers can grow their audience or extract additional revenue through digital storefronts. The article also describes the pandemic-era increase in demand as temporary and notes later layoffs and studio closures. That context helps explain his argument, but it does not establish that any one factor caused those outcomes or that raising prices would solve them.

Will GTA 6 make other games more expensive?
That remains uncertain. Klíma hopes a successful GTA 6 launch will give other publishers cover to raise prices, but neither his comments nor the reporting establish that other companies plan to follow suit. A single major release could influence expectations; it cannot, by itself, confirm a broad or permanent change in pricing.
Consumer response is also a consideration. Video Games Chronicle reported in 2026 that an unnamed recent survey found 62% of the most engaged video-game players no longer buy full-price releases and instead wait for discounts. The report does not identify the survey’s publisher, sample, geography, or methodology, so the figure should not be treated as representative of all players.

How much does GTA 6 cost, and when does it come out?
As of October 3, 2026, the Rockstar Games Store lists the standard edition at $79.99 in the US. That is a current listing for one market, not a universal price or a prediction of what other games will cost. Rockstar’s official announcement gives November 19, 2026 as the release date and lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Does the physical GTA 6 edition include a disc?
No. Rockstar says its physical version is a box containing a download code, with no disc included. The boxed package is therefore not a physical-disc edition; buyers should check the format before ordering.
