Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is scheduled to launch on PC on December 3, 2026, but its CPU, GPU, memory, and storage requirements have not been published on Steam. The developer has confirmed ultrawide and 4K display support, but not the hardware or settings needed to run the game at those resolutions. Until official specifications arrive, there is no reliable basis for deciding whether a particular PC can run it or whether an upgrade is needed.
What are the current Dawn of War IV PC requirements?
Steam’s listing does not yet provide a usable minimum or recommended hardware tier. Its minimum section says a 64-bit processor and operating system are required, while the operating-system field is marked “Coming soon.” The recommended section also states the 64-bit requirement but supplies no component list. See the Steam listing.

Creative director Jan Theysen said in the official Steam Community AMA that most planned optimization work was complete and that the studio expected to publish system requirements soon. That statement does not supply a specification or guarantee how the game will perform on any particular PC. Read the developer AMA.

Can your PC run Dawn of War IV?
There is not enough published information to answer that reliably for an individual system. Without CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage tiers, comparing your PC with an official minimum or recommended target is impossible. The 64-bit processor and operating-system statement alone is not a practical compatibility check.
#1 Best Overall
- Do not treat the requirements of an earlier Dawn of War game as a substitute; this title’s hardware needs have not been established by the available official listing.
- Do not buy or upgrade a graphics card, processor, or other component specifically for this game on the basis of the current listing.
- Once requirements are published, compare your exact CPU and GPU models, memory, available storage, and operating-system version with the stated tiers.
What display support and PC settings are confirmed?
Ultrawide and 4K displays
Theysen confirmed that Dawn of War IV supports ultrawide displays and 4K. Display support means those formats are supported; it does not establish a frame-rate target, graphics preset, or the hardware needed for smooth play at either resolution. The statement appears in the official developer AMA.
Graphics options and performance targets
The reviewed official sources do not document a complete PC graphics menu, named presets, individual visual controls, or resolution-specific performance targets. An official Battlefield Report discusses match settings, but that is not a full graphics-options list or benchmark. The Steam Community news feed contains the report.

- Games Workshop - Warhammer 40,000: Introductory Set (10 Edition - 2023)
- A great way to begin your journey into the Warhammer 40,000 hobby
- Includes basic rules for the game, plus dice, a gaming mat, reference sheets, and a range ruler
- 16 push-fit models make up two balanced starter forces - Space Marines and Tyranids, plus hobby supplies to build and paint them
No cited hardware test or benchmark currently establishes frame rates, frame-time consistency, or performance across scenes and settings. When comparable tests become available, useful results should identify the tested CPU and GPU, resolution, graphics preset, frame rate, and frame-time behavior rather than treating 4K or ultrawide support as a performance promise.

In the official AMA, Theysen said gamepad controls would not be available at launch and that native Linux and Mac versions were not planned at the time. He also said the studio was open to small changes that might make the game more accessible to Linux players. These statements do not establish whether compatibility or support plans will change before or after release. Read the developer’s answers.

When does Dawn of War IV release, and why did the date change?
Steam currently lists December 3, 2026, as the release date. The date can change, so check the official Steam page for the latest listing.
PC Gamer reported in August 2026 that the game had been delayed from its earlier September date. The outlet quoted Theysen saying the additional time would allow the team to continue optimizing performance, resolving bugs, and applying polish. That describes the team’s stated work and goal; it is not a measured performance result. PC Gamer’s report on the delay.

What to check when the full requirements are published
- Open the official Steam listing and confirm that it has been updated with minimum and recommended specifications.
- Compare the listed CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and operating-system requirements with your own PC rather than relying on a single component match.
- If your target is ultrawide or 4K, look for separately reported tests at that resolution. Confirm the hardware, graphics settings, frame rate, and frame-time results before drawing a performance conclusion.
