Some Walmart shoppers may have frozen Bettergoods pasta or other recalled foods at home, but the notices cover specific products and lots—not every pasta, pepper, or item sold by Walmart. Check the package against the details below, then confirm current instructions in the linked FDA notice and Walmart’s Product Recalls page.

Which pepper and jalapeño notices should shoppers check?
Mezzetta Greek peppers
The FDA recall index has a September 26, 2026 entry for Mezzetta Greek peppers, also identified as Golden Greek Peperoncini, Medium Heat, due to possible foreign material. The index alone does not provide enough package and lot details to identify an affected jar reliably. Check the FDA recall index and open the specific notice before deciding whether your product is included.

Jalapeño-linked products
A separate Salmonella outbreak was linked to jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico, distributed by Coast Citrus Distributors. The FDA’s October 2, 2026 update says CDC declared the outbreak over. FDA and CDC reported 488 illnesses in 34 states, 65 hospitalizations, and no deaths; investigators could not determine the route or source of contamination.
FDA’s related recall grouping includes finished foods made with recalled jalapeños or products that repackaged them, such as dips, salsa, and guacamole. Products, distribution areas, retailers, and affected codes differ by notice, so a food’s category or a Walmart purchase alone cannot establish whether it is recalled. Use the FDA’s jalapeño-related recall list to check each product notice.

No. CDC describes a separate investigation involving prepared pasta meals purchased from refrigerated sections at Walmart and Kroger. That investigation concerns a different event from the September 2026 recall of frozen Bettergoods Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine. Do not use one notice’s product details or outbreak figures to identify products in the other. See the CDC prepared pasta meals investigation for its own findings and updates.

What should you do if you have a recalled product?
- Match the package. Compare the brand and full product name, size, UPC, lot or date code, and expiration or best-by date with the specific notice. Do not assume all pasta, peppers, or foods sold at Walmart are affected.
- Follow that notice’s instructions. FDA advises consumers to check at home and discard recalled food or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. Follow any more specific directions in the product notice.
- Check for updates. Consult the relevant FDA notice and Walmart’s recall page; Walmart says its recall list is not all-inclusive.
- Get medical advice when appropriate. If you think you developed Salmonella symptoms after eating food with jalapeños, FDA advises contacting a healthcare provider immediately.
